Papum Pare LM&CA Books Petrol Pump for Short Delivery

ITANAGAR, August 24:

The Department of Legal Metrology & Consumer Affairs (LM&CA), Papum Pare, conducted surprise inspections at Doimukh Market, a local retail outlet and the HPCL Petrol Depot at Huto Village to protect consumers and check unfair trade practices.

The inspection team was led by Dr. Debia Tana, Assistant Controller-cum-DCPO, along with Nyalisa Raji, Town Executive Magistrate, and Tao Tasar, Inspector, LM&CA.

During the inspection, a retail petrol pump was found dispensing petrol and diesel with short deliveries beyond the permissible limits. 

A case was subsequently booked against the establishment under Sections 26 and 28 of the Legal Metrology Act, 2009.

Dr. Tana advised consumers to check the quantity and quality of fuel while refuelling and remain alert to short deliveries or suspected adulteration. 

Consumers can report such violations, including readings beyond the Maximum Permissible Error (MPE), to local officers or through the e-Jagriti portal.

The department also reminded traders to keep valid verification certificates for all weighing instruments and comply with the Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules, 2011.

Officials further warned traders that selling packaged goods above the declared Maximum Retail Price (MRP) is illegal. The department said inspections will continue across Papum Pare to curb violations and protect consumers from unfair trade practices.

Three Held for Mithun Theft in East Siang

  PASIGHAT, July 17:  In a successful joint operation, Mebo Police and Pasighat Police, with active support from the Mithun Owners Association, arrested three persons for allegedly stealing and illegally transporting a mithun.  The stolen animal was successfully recovered. The accused have been identified as Philip Lego (28) of Ayeng Village under Mebo Police Station, Kanggong Lego (19) of Ayeng Village, and Nandu Nath (22), a driver from Chumoni Village in Assam's North Lakhimpur district. According to police, the accused allegedly stole the mithun from the Partung area and were transporting it towards the Itanagar Capital Region (ICR).  Acting on specific intelligence, police intercepted the vehicle carrying the stolen animal at the Gumto Police Check Gate, leading to the recovery of the mithun and the arrest of all three accused. Dr. Lige Basar, Three Others Killed in Assam Crash

  Khetri/Itanagar, May 29:  A tragic road accident in Assam's Khetri area on Friday claimed the lives of four people from Arunachal Pradesh, including a senior veterinary officer, his wife, and two medical students, triggering widespread condolences across the state. The deceased have been identified as Dr. Lige Basar, Veterinary Officer of Keyi Panyor district and president of the Basar Aao Welfare Association (BAWA), his wife Kunga Doima Basar, their son Gemar Basar, and Karma S. Khirmey, Gemar's friend and fellow MBBS student. According to traffic officials, the accident occurred between 11:30 a.m. and noon when the Mahindra Bolero (AR-01Q-0042) in which they were travelling reportedly collided with a truck parked along National Highway 27 in Assam's Khetri area. All four occupants of the vehicle died at the scene.
