Chop Villagers Seek Re-Survey of Indo-Myanmar Border Fencing Alignment
Longding, July 2: Residents of Chop village under Wakka Circle in Arunachal Pradesh's Longding district have appealed to the district administration for immediate intervention over the ongoing Indo-Myanmar border fencing project, expressing concern that the proposed fence alignment could adversely affect their traditional lands and livelihoods. In a memorandum submitted to the Deputy Commissioner, Longding, and dated 24 June 2026, the villagers requested an urgent re-survey of the fencing alignment, alleging that the current survey deviates from the actual international boundary and extends into land traditionally owned and cultivated by the local indigenous community.
