  NAMSAI, July 13:  Namsai Police arrested an alleged drug peddler during a targeted anti-drug operation at Nongtaw Khamti-II Village and seized 35 grams (gross weight) of suspected heroin along with other incriminating materials. The accused has been identified as Shri Chow Wingseng Kamthong. The operation was launched based on specific and credible intelligence regarding his alleged involvement in narcotics trafficking. According to police, a search of the accused's residence was conducted in the presence of independent witnesses.  During the search, officers recovered 35 grams (gross weight) of suspected heroin concealed inside a medicine container kept in a flowery sling (tamul) bag in the kacha kitchen attached to the house.  Police also seized other articles believed to be associated with drug trafficking.   Namsai, June 29:  In a major crackdown on the illegal liquor trade, a joint enforcement team comprising officials from the Tax & Excise Department, Mahadevpur Police, and the General Administration carried out a coordinated inspection drive across Mahadevpur township on Monday. The operation was launched as part of the district administration's ongoing efforts to curb unlawful activities, strengthen law enforcement, and maintain public order. The drive specifically targeted the illegal sale and distribution of Indian-Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) and beer. Acting on intelligence and routine enforcement measures, the joint team conducted thorough inspections at several suspected locations within the township to detect unauthorized storage and sale of liquor. During the operation, officials seized approximately 50 litres of illegally stored IMFL and beer from various locations.
