  ITANAGAR, June 27:  The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Meteorological Centre Itanagar, has issued an Impact-Based Weather Forecast warning for Arunachal Pradesh, placing West Kameng and Papum Pare districts under Red Warning (Take Action) for June 28 (Day-2). The department has forecast thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and heavy rainfall over the warned districts as active monsoon conditions continue to influence the state. According to the district-wise warning map released by the IMD, East Kameng, Pakke Kessang, Lower Subansiri and East Siang have been placed under the Orange Warning (Be Prepared) category. The weather office has indicated that these districts are likely to experience thunderstorms with lightning and heavy rainfall of 6–11 cm within 24 hours at isolated places during the forecast period from June 28 to June 29.   Itanagar, June 19:  A Special Joint Session of the Central Executive Body (CEB) of the All Nyishi Students' Union (ANSU) and its General Assembly members was convened on June 19, 2026, at Papum Hall, DK Convention Centre, Itanagar. The meeting was chaired by Shri Romesh Maga, Acting President of ANSU. The session witnessed the participation of members of the General Executive Body representing all 22 Basic Students' Unions (BSUs) along with representatives from eight affiliated college unions. The gathering was called to deliberate on organizational matters and ensure the smooth functioning of the union in accordance with its constitutional provisions.   Itanagar, June 11: A representation has been submitted to the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh seeking the constitution of an independent enquiry committee to investigate alleged inaction by the Home Department, district administration, police authorities, and the Arunachal Pradesh Indigenous Youth Organisation (APIYO) over repeated bandh calls in the Itanagar Capital Region (ICR). The memorandum, dated June 9, 2026, was submitted by RTI activist Likha Tolum and received at Raj Bhavan, Itanagar. According to the representation, the petitioner alleged that APIYO had called multiple capital bandhs within a short span of time, causing inconvenience to the general public and disrupting normal life in the twin capital cities.   Papum Pare, June 8: A Special POCSO Court in Papum Pare district delivered a landmark verdict this Monday, sentencing a 37-year-old man, Tayo Pordung, to imprisonment for the remainder of his natural life for the systemic sexual abuse of his minor stepdaughter. Special Judge (POCSO) Dr. Hirendra Kashyap handed down the sentence following Pordung’s conviction under Section 376(3) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), read in conjunction with Section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. In addition to the life sentence, the court imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on the convict.
