Tagin Community Mourns Demise of Gogyam Gumja Tamin
DAPORIJO, July 30: The Tagin community and followers of the indigenous Si-Donyi faith are mourning the demise of renowned traditional priest and scholar of Tagin customary law, Late Gogyam Gumja Tamin, who passed away on Thursday morning at the TRIHMS. He was 70. Born to Late Pugo Gumja and Late Jamnu Gumja of Dignium village under Giba Circle, he later settled at Lejirijo village under Sigin-I in Daporijo. Throughout his life, he dedicated himself to preserving and promoting the indigenous spiritual traditions, customary laws, and cultural heritage of the Tagin community. Having embraced shamanism at a young age, Gogyam Gumja Tamin went on to become one of the most respected traditional priests of his generation. His extensive knowledge of Tagin customs and rituals earned him widespread recognition and respect across Arunachal Pradesh.
