Medicine Team Forced to Halt on Koyu Road
LOWER SIANG, July 3: A self-help medicine carrying team was forced to spend the night on the roadside after being unable to reach Koyu due to massive landslides, mudslides, and extensive road damage caused by recent heavy rainfall. The team had travelled from Reme but could not cover the remaining 20 kilometres to Koyu as several sections of the road were either washed away or blocked by landslides. With no safe route available and restoration work yet to begin, the team had no option but to halt overnight on the road while carrying essential medicines meant for remote communities. The incident highlights the worsening condition of road connectivity in the Koyu area, where continuous rainfall has severely affected transportation.
