Pema Khandu Launches Statewide HPV Vaccination Drive
Itanagar, February 28, 2026: Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Saturday formally launched the statewide National HPV Vaccination Campaign at Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (TRIHMS), marking a significant step toward strengthening preventive healthcare in Arunachal Pradesh . Health Minister Biyuram Wahge and senior health officials were also present on the occasion. The initiative aims to protect adolescent girls, particularly those aged 14 years, against the Human Papillomavirus (HPV), a leading cause of cervical cancer . Following the formal launch, vaccination of eligible beneficiaries commenced immediately, with the Chief Minister symbolically handing over HPV vaccination certificates to the first recipients.
