Hoj–Potin Road Waterfall Section Reopens

KEYI PANYOR, August 29: 

The Waterfall (Jharna) section of the Hoj–Potin Road was officially reopened today, restoring vehicular connectivity along the important highway stretch.

The reopening was carried out by Team All Nyishi Students’ Union (ANSU) in the presence of the Chief Engineer (Highway), Executive Engineer (EE), Assistant Engineer (AE), Junior Engineer (JE) and the Managing Director of the concerned contractor.

The road had suffered damage following a flash flood on June 24, which affected several portions of highway stretches in Keyi Panyor district and disrupted vehicle movement for several days.

The damage had caused considerable inconvenience to commuters and residents who depend on the road for regular travel and transportation between the districts.

With the restoration of the Waterfall section, movement along the Hoj–Potin Road is expected to become smoother, providing relief to commuters and strengthening connectivity in the region.

The restored road will particularly benefit people travelling to and from Lower Subansiri, Upper Subansiri, Kamle, Kurung Kumey and Kra Daadi, besides other adjoining areas.

On behalf of Team ANSU and the people of the six districts, the union expressed its heartfelt gratitude to M/s Nabam Tulon LLP and the Highway Department for their tireless efforts towards the speedy restoration of the damaged road.

ANSU appreciated the prompt response and continuous efforts of the department and the contractor to restore connectivity at the earliest.

The reopening is being seen as a significant relief for the people and a positive step towards improving road connectivity across the region.

Three Held for Mithun Theft in East Siang

  PASIGHAT, July 17:  In a successful joint operation, Mebo Police and Pasighat Police, with active support from the Mithun Owners Association, arrested three persons for allegedly stealing and illegally transporting a mithun.  The stolen animal was successfully recovered. The accused have been identified as Philip Lego (28) of Ayeng Village under Mebo Police Station, Kanggong Lego (19) of Ayeng Village, and Nandu Nath (22), a driver from Chumoni Village in Assam's North Lakhimpur district. According to police, the accused allegedly stole the mithun from the Partung area and were transporting it towards the Itanagar Capital Region (ICR).  Acting on specific intelligence, police intercepted the vehicle carrying the stolen animal at the Gumto Police Check Gate, leading to the recovery of the mithun and the arrest of all three accused. Dr. Lige Basar, Three Others Killed in Assam Crash

  Khetri/Itanagar, May 29:  A tragic road accident in Assam's Khetri area on Friday claimed the lives of four people from Arunachal Pradesh, including a senior veterinary officer, his wife, and two medical students, triggering widespread condolences across the state. The deceased have been identified as Dr. Lige Basar, Veterinary Officer of Keyi Panyor district and president of the Basar Aao Welfare Association (BAWA), his wife Kunga Doima Basar, their son Gemar Basar, and Karma S. Khirmey, Gemar's friend and fellow MBBS student. According to traffic officials, the accident occurred between 11:30 a.m. and noon when the Mahindra Bolero (AR-01Q-0042) in which they were travelling reportedly collided with a truck parked along National Highway 27 in Assam's Khetri area. All four occupants of the vehicle died at the scene.
