AAPSU Flags Dual Jobs, Demands ‘One Man, One Job’
ITANAGAR, Aug 28:
The All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) on Friday demanded strict implementation of the state government’s new uniform eligibility criteria for future government recruitment and called for adherence to a “One Man, One Job” policy in Arunachal Pradesh.
AAPSU president Meje Taku said the union has submitted representations to the recruitment commissions and recently met officials of the Arunachal Pradesh Staff Selection Board (APSSB) and Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC), urging strict compliance with the prescribed norms.
Under the state Cabinet’s decision, candidates for direct recruitment to Group A, B and C government posts will be required to meet mandatory eligibility conditions, including possession of a Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC), Arunachal Pradesh Scheduled Tribe (APST) status and proficiency in an indigenous tribal language or local dialect.
Taku said strict enforcement of the criteria is essential to protect opportunities for eligible local candidates, particularly unemployed youths who spend years preparing for competitive examinations.
“We can’t give you a job, but we can give you an opportunity,” Taku said, stressing that the recruitment system should provide a fair opportunity to eligible candidates.
AAPSU also urged government departments to submit details of vacant posts to the recruiting agencies at the earliest so that recruitment processes can begin without unnecessary delay.
On the issue of dual employment, Taku said the union has received complaints and collected information regarding individuals allegedly holding positions in multiple government departments.
He alleged that some of the individuals have influential backgrounds, including links to ministers, MLAs, directors and chief engineers. Taku urged those allegedly holding additional government positions to voluntarily relinquish them.
He warned that AAPSU would initiate legal action, including filing FIRs, if allegations of unauthorised multiple government employment are substantiated.
Taku said the practice is particularly concerning when thousands of unemployed youths are waiting for opportunities to enter government service. He called upon government employees to comply with applicable service rules and uphold the “One Man, One Job” principle.
AAPSU further warned that it would oppose future recruitment processes that fail to adhere to the newly prescribed eligibility criteria.
The union also appealed to citizens to share information about suspected cases of illegal dual or multiple government employment and assist AAPSU in its efforts to ensure transparency and fair opportunities in government recruitment.
