Nirjuli Police Recover 11 Stolen Two-Wheelers, Arrest Four

NIRJULI, July 27: 

In a major breakthrough against the recent rise in two-wheeler thefts across the Itanagar Capital Region (ICR), Nirjuli Police has recovered 11 stolen two-wheelers, arrested four accused, and apprehended two Children in Conflict with Law (CCLs).

The action was taken in connection with Nirjuli Police Station Case No. 51/2026 registered under Sections 303(2) and 331(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

The arrested accused have been identified as Monu Borah alias Durna Borah (31), Govind Nath (28), Khyoda Tako alias Pako (19), and Amit Doley (32). Police said the two apprehended juveniles were also allegedly involved in the theft racket.

The recovered vehicles include five TVS Ntorq 125 scooters, a Honda Grazia, Hero Xtreme 125, Bajaj Pulsar N160, Yamaha Ray ZR, Yamaha R15, and a TVS Wego 110.

The stolen vehicles had been reported missing from Itanagar, Papu Hills, and Nirjuli, while the source of some recovered vehicles is still under verification.

The operation was conducted under the supervision of Inspector Tadu Hassang, Officer-in-Charge of Nirjuli Police Station, and ASP Rishi Longdo, SDPO Naharlagun.

Two dedicated investigation teams were formed to trace the stolen vehicles and identify those involved in the theft cases.

The first team was led by Lady SI Topi Josam (Investigating Officer) and included Ct. Hano Pai, Ct. Tana Bhud Tara, Ct. Yeshi Tsering, and Ct. Tamin Rai.

The second team was headed by SI Gopal Tok, assisted by Ct. Bomyi Passing, Ct. Tana Chakro, and Ct. T. Bimpak.

Dr. Nyelam Nega, APPS, SP ICR Naharlagun, commended the efforts of the police teams and appealed to the public to remain vigilant while parking their vehicles, especially during the night.

He also urged people who have reported their two-wheelers missing in recent months to contact Nirjuli Police Station for verification and identification of the recovered vehicles.

Police said the investigation is continuing to ascertain whether the accused were involved in other vehicle theft cases and to identify any additional members of the network.

Three Held for Mithun Theft in East Siang

  PASIGHAT, July 17:  In a successful joint operation, Mebo Police and Pasighat Police, with active support from the Mithun Owners Association, arrested three persons for allegedly stealing and illegally transporting a mithun.  The stolen animal was successfully recovered. The accused have been identified as Philip Lego (28) of Ayeng Village under Mebo Police Station, Kanggong Lego (19) of Ayeng Village, and Nandu Nath (22), a driver from Chumoni Village in Assam's North Lakhimpur district. According to police, the accused allegedly stole the mithun from the Partung area and were transporting it towards the Itanagar Capital Region (ICR).  Acting on specific intelligence, police intercepted the vehicle carrying the stolen animal at the Gumto Police Check Gate, leading to the recovery of the mithun and the arrest of all three accused. Dr. Lige Basar, Three Others Killed in Assam Crash

  Khetri/Itanagar, May 29:  A tragic road accident in Assam's Khetri area on Friday claimed the lives of four people from Arunachal Pradesh, including a senior veterinary officer, his wife, and two medical students, triggering widespread condolences across the state. The deceased have been identified as Dr. Lige Basar, Veterinary Officer of Keyi Panyor district and president of the Basar Aao Welfare Association (BAWA), his wife Kunga Doima Basar, their son Gemar Basar, and Karma S. Khirmey, Gemar's friend and fellow MBBS student. According to traffic officials, the accident occurred between 11:30 a.m. and noon when the Mahindra Bolero (AR-01Q-0042) in which they were travelling reportedly collided with a truck parked along National Highway 27 in Assam's Khetri area.
