Mechukha Trout Quest 2.0 Ends on a High Note

MECHUKHA, July 27: 

The second edition of Mechukha Trout Quest 2.0 concluded on Sunday after two days of competitive angling along the scenic Yargyap Chu River, bringing together fishing enthusiasts from across India and abroad.

The event witnessed the participation of 56 anglers from Thailand, Bhutan, and several Indian states, making it an international sport fishing and eco-tourism in Arunachal Pradesh.

Participants competed in both Fly Fishing and Lure Fishing categories under the guidance of Derek D'Souza, IGFA India Representative, and renowned fly angler Bobby Satpal.

The valedictory ceremony was attended by Arunachal Pradesh Minister Gabriel D. Wangsu, who distributed prizes to the winners and congratulated all participants for making the event a grand success.

Addressing the gathering, the Minister reaffirmed the State Government's commitment to transforming Mechukha into a national benchmark for trout farming, recreational angling, and sustainable eco-tourism. 

He said such initiatives are aimed at promoting the region's unique natural resources while creating new opportunities for local communities.

He further highlighted that events like the Mechukha Trout Quest not only showcase the breathtaking beauty of the region but also encourage environmental conservation, responsible tourism, and rural livelihoods through sustainable tourism practices.

With growing participation from international and domestic anglers, the Mechukha Trout Quest continues to strengthen Arunachal Pradesh's reputation as one of India's emerging destinations for world-class trout fishing and nature-based tourism.

Three Held for Mithun Theft in East Siang

  PASIGHAT, July 17:  In a successful joint operation, Mebo Police and Pasighat Police, with active support from the Mithun Owners Association, arrested three persons for allegedly stealing and illegally transporting a mithun.  The stolen animal was successfully recovered. The accused have been identified as Philip Lego (28) of Ayeng Village under Mebo Police Station, Kanggong Lego (19) of Ayeng Village, and Nandu Nath (22), a driver from Chumoni Village in Assam's North Lakhimpur district. According to police, the accused allegedly stole the mithun from the Partung area and were transporting it towards the Itanagar Capital Region (ICR).  Acting on specific intelligence, police intercepted the vehicle carrying the stolen animal at the Gumto Police Check Gate, leading to the recovery of the mithun and the arrest of all three accused. Dr. Lige Basar, Three Others Killed in Assam Crash

  Khetri/Itanagar, May 29:  A tragic road accident in Assam's Khetri area on Friday claimed the lives of four people from Arunachal Pradesh, including a senior veterinary officer, his wife, and two medical students, triggering widespread condolences across the state. The deceased have been identified as Dr. Lige Basar, Veterinary Officer of Keyi Panyor district and president of the Basar Aao Welfare Association (BAWA), his wife Kunga Doima Basar, their son Gemar Basar, and Karma S. Khirmey, Gemar's friend and fellow MBBS student. According to traffic officials, the accident occurred between 11:30 a.m. and noon when the Mahindra Bolero (AR-01Q-0042) in which they were travelling reportedly collided with a truck parked along National Highway 27 in Assam's Khetri area. All four occupants of the vehicle died at the scene.
