Chowkham Gets New Mini Football Stadium
NAMSAI, July 28:
Deputy Chief Minister Shri Chowna Mein on Tuesday inaugurated the newly completed Mini Football Stadium at Chowkham in Namsai district, marking a significant boost to sports infrastructure in the region.
The stadium has been funded by the North Eastern Council (NEC) and executed by the Rural Works Department (RWD), Namsai.
The inauguration was attended by 47 Namsai MLA Chau Zingnu Namchoom, Zilla Parishad Chairperson Chau Sujana Namchoom, Secretary of Sports & Youth Affairs Shri Abu Tayeng, the Deputy Commissioner (DC), Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), and other dignitaries.
Speaking at the event, Chowna Mein said Chowkham has a rich footballing legacy as the birthplace of Arunachal Pradesh's first international footballer, Late Indrajit Namchoom, as well as renowned footballer Chau Surajit (Gohain) Namchoom and several other talented players.
He said the state government is committed to restoring the area's football glory and developing Chowkham into a football hub for the region.
The newly inaugurated stadium features a modern artificial turf football ground and quality spectator facilities.

According to the Deputy Chief Minister, the facility will provide young footballers with a dedicated space to train, compete and sharpen their skills.
Calling the project an investment in the dreams of the youth, Chowna Mein said better sports infrastructure will help nurture future champions while encouraging a healthier and more active generation.
MLA Chau Zingnu Namchoom said the stadium reflects the government's shared commitment to promoting sports and empowering young talent.
He expressed confidence that the new facility would inspire aspiring footballers to pursue their passion and achieve greater success.
The Deputy Chief Minister also thanked the officials of the Rural Works Department, the contractor and everyone involved in completing the project.
He reaffirmed the government's commitment to building a stronger, healthier and more vibrant Arunachal Pradesh through quality infrastructure and expanded opportunities for its youth.
