Capital Police Arrest Suspected Drug Peddler, Seize 46 Heroin Vials

ITANAGAR, July 24: 

In a significant breakthrough under the ongoing "Operation All Out" against narcotics, the Special Action Team (SAT) of Capital Police, Itanagar, arrested a suspected drug peddler during a raid conducted in the Mob-II area under Niti Vihar Police Station.

The operation, carried out on July 23, was led by Deputy Superintendent of Police (HQ), ICR, Shri Chamrak Arun, APPS, and SDPO Itanagar, Shri Chera Saban, APPS, along with SI Tejab Tadar, HC Tashi Wangchu, Ct. Tasso Tasser, Ct. Jumter Romin, and L/Ct. Dulley Yasing.

Acting on specific and credible intelligence, the SAT intercepted the suspect near his rented accommodation at Mob-II after obtaining the necessary legal authorization. 

The accused, a resident of Assam whose identity has been withheld to protect the ongoing investigation, was taken into custody without incident.

A subsequent search of the rented premises resulted in the recovery of 46 plastic vials containing suspected heroin weighing approximately 9.73 grams.

Police stated that the house search, personal search, and seizure were conducted strictly in accordance with the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, in the presence of Mrs. Mary Tanyang, Circle Officer, Itanagar, who acted as the Executive Magistrate/Gazetted Officer, along with two independent witnesses.

During sustained interrogation, the accused allegedly revealed the identity of his supplier, who is believed to be operating from Assam. 

Police have launched efforts to trace and apprehend the alleged supplier as part of a broader investigation aimed at dismantling the drug trafficking network.

A case has been registered at Niti Vihar Police Station under the relevant provisions of the NDPS Act. Further investigation is underway to identify and arrest other individuals linked to the network operating in the Capital Region.

The anti-narcotics drive is being carried out by the Special Action Team (SAT) under the close supervision of the Superintendent of Police, Capital Itanagar, as part of the Arunachal Pradesh Police's sustained campaign to eradicate drug trafficking, dismantle organised drug syndicates, and curb substance abuse.

Reaffirming its commitment to public safety, Capital Police Itanagar stated that it will continue to intensify operations under Operation All Out to make the Capital Region drug-free and strengthen the fight against narcotics.

Three Held for Mithun Theft in East Siang

  PASIGHAT, July 17:  In a successful joint operation, Mebo Police and Pasighat Police, with active support from the Mithun Owners Association, arrested three persons for allegedly stealing and illegally transporting a mithun.  The stolen animal was successfully recovered. The accused have been identified as Philip Lego (28) of Ayeng Village under Mebo Police Station, Kanggong Lego (19) of Ayeng Village, and Nandu Nath (22), a driver from Chumoni Village in Assam's North Lakhimpur district. According to police, the accused allegedly stole the mithun from the Partung area and were transporting it towards the Itanagar Capital Region (ICR).  Acting on specific intelligence, police intercepted the vehicle carrying the stolen animal at the Gumto Police Check Gate, leading to the recovery of the mithun and the arrest of all three accused. Dr. Lige Basar, Three Others Killed in Assam Crash

  Khetri/Itanagar, May 29:  A tragic road accident in Assam's Khetri area on Friday claimed the lives of four people from Arunachal Pradesh, including a senior veterinary officer, his wife, and two medical students, triggering widespread condolences across the state. The deceased have been identified as Dr. Lige Basar, Veterinary Officer of Keyi Panyor district and president of the Basar Aao Welfare Association (BAWA), his wife Kunga Doima Basar, their son Gemar Basar, and Karma S. Khirmey, Gemar's friend and fellow MBBS student. According to traffic officials, the accident occurred between 11:30 a.m. and noon when the Mahindra Bolero (AR-01Q-0042) in which they were travelling reportedly collided with a truck parked along National Highway 27 in Assam's Khetri area.
