Arunachal Orders Statewide Pharmacy Inspection

ITANAGAR, July 30: 

The Arunachal Pradesh Directorate of Health Services, Drugs Control Administration, has ordered a statewide inspection of all pharmacy establishments to ensure compliance with legal and quality standards.

The order, issued by Assistant Drugs Controller-cum-Controlling Authority Gebomb Tayeng, directs all Zonal Licensing Authorities (ZLAs) and District Drug Control Officers (DCOs) to inspect medicine retail outlets in their respective jurisdictions.

Officials have been instructed to verify pharmacy ownership documents, licences, appointment of registered pharmacists, storage facilities, infrastructure and compliance with the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940, along with applicable state rules.

The inspection will also include verification of valid drug licences, medicine storage conditions including cold-chain requirements, stock registers, invoices and purchase records. 

Authorities will check for expired, counterfeit or unapproved medicines and verify the qualifications and registration of pharmacists.

The order further directs officers to ensure that registered pharmacists are present during pharmacy operating hours wherever required.

All inspection reports have been directed to be submitted to the Drugs Control Administration by August 14, 2026, for strict compliance.

According to the order, the objective of the statewide screening and scrutiny is to ensure that medicines sold across Arunachal Pradesh are safe, effective and of good quality, while protecting public health through compliance with pharmacy regulations.

Three Held for Mithun Theft in East Siang

  PASIGHAT, July 17:  In a successful joint operation, Mebo Police and Pasighat Police, with active support from the Mithun Owners Association, arrested three persons for allegedly stealing and illegally transporting a mithun.  The stolen animal was successfully recovered. The accused have been identified as Philip Lego (28) of Ayeng Village under Mebo Police Station, Kanggong Lego (19) of Ayeng Village, and Nandu Nath (22), a driver from Chumoni Village in Assam's North Lakhimpur district. According to police, the accused allegedly stole the mithun from the Partung area and were transporting it towards the Itanagar Capital Region (ICR).  Acting on specific intelligence, police intercepted the vehicle carrying the stolen animal at the Gumto Police Check Gate, leading to the recovery of the mithun and the arrest of all three accused. Dr. Lige Basar, Three Others Killed in Assam Crash

  Khetri/Itanagar, May 29:  A tragic road accident in Assam's Khetri area on Friday claimed the lives of four people from Arunachal Pradesh, including a senior veterinary officer, his wife, and two medical students, triggering widespread condolences across the state. The deceased have been identified as Dr. Lige Basar, Veterinary Officer of Keyi Panyor district and president of the Basar Aao Welfare Association (BAWA), his wife Kunga Doima Basar, their son Gemar Basar, and Karma S. Khirmey, Gemar's friend and fellow MBBS student. According to traffic officials, the accident occurred between 11:30 a.m. and noon when the Mahindra Bolero (AR-01Q-0042) in which they were travelling reportedly collided with a truck parked along National Highway 27 in Assam's Khetri area. All four occupants of the vehicle died at the scene.
