TRIHMS Graduates 52 MBBS Students, Marking Major Milestone for Arunachal

ITANAGAR, June 27: 

In a significant milestone for medical education in Arunachal Pradesh, 52 students of the 2020 MBBS batch of the Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (TRIHMS) graduated as Indian Medical Graduates during the institute's third graduation ceremony held on Saturday.

Congratulating the graduates, Chief Minister Pema Khandu described the occasion as a proud moment for the state and lauded the institute's continued contribution to producing skilled healthcare professionals.

"It is heartening to witness the successful conclusion of the third graduation ceremony of TRIHMS. We are immensely proud of each one of you and share in the joy of your families, teachers, and mentors who have supported you throughout this journey," the Chief Minister said.

Extending his best wishes to the newly qualified doctors, Khandu expressed confidence that they would serve society with dedication, compassion, and professional excellence.

"Wishing all our new doctors a future filled with compassion, excellence, and dedicated service to humanity," he added.

The graduation ceremony marked another important chapter in the growth of TRIHMS, which has emerged as a cornerstone of medical education and healthcare in Arunachal Pradesh.

TRIHMS became a medical college in 2017 after the existing general hospital at Naharlagun was officially upgraded, making it the first medical college in Arunachal Pradesh. The institute commenced its maiden academic session on August 1, 2018, with the admission of its first MBBS batch, laying the foundation for the state's journey toward self-reliance in medical education.

Since its establishment, TRIHMS has steadily expanded its academic and healthcare services, producing qualified medical professionals to strengthen the state's healthcare system. The graduation of the 2020 MBBS batch represents another major achievement in the institute's mission to develop a skilled and compassionate medical workforce for Arunachal Pradesh and the nation.

Three Held for Mithun Theft in East Siang

  PASIGHAT, July 17:  In a successful joint operation, Mebo Police and Pasighat Police, with active support from the Mithun Owners Association, arrested three persons for allegedly stealing and illegally transporting a mithun.  The stolen animal was successfully recovered. The accused have been identified as Philip Lego (28) of Ayeng Village under Mebo Police Station, Kanggong Lego (19) of Ayeng Village, and Nandu Nath (22), a driver from Chumoni Village in Assam's North Lakhimpur district. According to police, the accused allegedly stole the mithun from the Partung area and were transporting it towards the Itanagar Capital Region (ICR).  Acting on specific intelligence, police intercepted the vehicle carrying the stolen animal at the Gumto Police Check Gate, leading to the recovery of the mithun and the arrest of all three accused. Dr. Lige Basar, Three Others Killed in Assam Crash

  Khetri/Itanagar, May 29:  A tragic road accident in Assam's Khetri area on Friday claimed the lives of four people from Arunachal Pradesh, including a senior veterinary officer, his wife, and two medical students, triggering widespread condolences across the state. The deceased have been identified as Dr. Lige Basar, Veterinary Officer of Keyi Panyor district and president of the Basar Aao Welfare Association (BAWA), his wife Kunga Doima Basar, their son Gemar Basar, and Karma S. Khirmey, Gemar's friend and fellow MBBS student. According to traffic officials, the accident occurred between 11:30 a.m. and noon when the Mahindra Bolero (AR-01Q-0042) in which they were travelling reportedly collided with a truck parked along National Highway 27 in Assam's Khetri area. All four occupants of the vehicle died at the scene.
