Suspected Heroin Seized at Banderdewa, One Held

Banderdewa, June 24:

Banderdewa Police achieved another breakthrough in their ongoing crackdown on narcotics after seizing suspected heroin and arresting one person during a naka checking operation at the Banderdewa Check Gate on Wednesday. The operation was launched following specific intelligence inputs regarding the transportation of narcotic substances from Assam into Arunachal Pradesh.

Acting on the tip-off, a police team led by Inspector Kipa Hamak, along with SI Buddhiman Pegu, ASI Anil Rajbhar, ASI Gyamar Tapin, HC Tade Bomdom and CRPF personnel, laid a trap under the supervision of ASP Rishi Longdo, SDPO Naharlagun. 

During the operation, the team intercepted a TVS N-Torq scooter bearing registration number AR-01S-1350 and detained the rider, identified as Godak Rajesh (29), a resident of Raga in Kamle district.

A thorough search of the accused led to the recovery of 19 vials containing suspected heroin weighing 24.44 grams, including the weight of the vials. The contraband was found concealed inside the accused’s helmet and wrapped in a black polythene bag. The suspect was immediately taken into custody and the seized substance was secured as evidence.

Following the seizure, a case has been registered at Banderdewa Police Station under Case No. BDW/PS/C.No. 36/26 under Section 21(b) of the NDPS Act, and further investigation is underway. 

SP ICR Naharlagun Dr. Nyelam Nega, APPS, reiterated that the fight against narcotics remains a top priority for the police and affirmed that strict action will continue against drug traffickers and peddlers operating in the region.

Three Held for Mithun Theft in East Siang

  PASIGHAT, July 17:  In a successful joint operation, Mebo Police and Pasighat Police, with active support from the Mithun Owners Association, arrested three persons for allegedly stealing and illegally transporting a mithun.  The stolen animal was successfully recovered. The accused have been identified as Philip Lego (28) of Ayeng Village under Mebo Police Station, Kanggong Lego (19) of Ayeng Village, and Nandu Nath (22), a driver from Chumoni Village in Assam's North Lakhimpur district. According to police, the accused allegedly stole the mithun from the Partung area and were transporting it towards the Itanagar Capital Region (ICR).  Acting on specific intelligence, police intercepted the vehicle carrying the stolen animal at the Gumto Police Check Gate, leading to the recovery of the mithun and the arrest of all three accused. Dr. Lige Basar, Three Others Killed in Assam Crash

  Khetri/Itanagar, May 29:  A tragic road accident in Assam's Khetri area on Friday claimed the lives of four people from Arunachal Pradesh, including a senior veterinary officer, his wife, and two medical students, triggering widespread condolences across the state. The deceased have been identified as Dr. Lige Basar, Veterinary Officer of Keyi Panyor district and president of the Basar Aao Welfare Association (BAWA), his wife Kunga Doima Basar, their son Gemar Basar, and Karma S. Khirmey, Gemar's friend and fellow MBBS student. According to traffic officials, the accident occurred between 11:30 a.m. and noon when the Mahindra Bolero (AR-01Q-0042) in which they were travelling reportedly collided with a truck parked along National Highway 27 in Assam's Khetri area.
