Possa Flash Flood: Third Body Recovered, Search On for Two Missing

Kimin, June 28: 

The joint search and rescue operation in the aftermath of the devastating Possa flash flood has led to the recovery of another victim, taking the total number of bodies recovered to three.

The deceased has been identified as Saurov Kumar, who had been missing since the tragic flash flood incident at Possa. His body was recovered on Monday during an intensive search operation conducted by a joint team comprising the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Arunachal Pradesh Police, and Kimin Police.

According to officials, the body was first spotted by a woman collecting firewood along the riverside near the Hawa Camp area in Kimin. She immediately alerted the authorities, following which the rescue teams rushed to the location and successfully retrieved the body after carrying out a coordinated operation under difficult terrain and river conditions.

After the recovery, the body was transported to NEEPCO Colony, where the necessary legal formalities, including identification by family members, will be carried out before being handed over to the next of kin.

Rescue officials said the search operation has been continuing relentlessly since the flash flood struck the Possa area, with teams facing strong currents, debris, and challenging weather conditions while combing the affected river stretches.

With the latest recovery, three victims have now been found by the NDRF and SDRF teams. However, the operation is far from over, as two people, Elesh Marak (13) and Tao Anjina (46), remain missing.

Authorities have stated that the joint rescue teams will continue the search operation until the remaining missing persons are located, while urging local residents to immediately report any sightings or information that could assist the ongoing operation.

Three Held for Mithun Theft in East Siang

  PASIGHAT, July 17:  In a successful joint operation, Mebo Police and Pasighat Police, with active support from the Mithun Owners Association, arrested three persons for allegedly stealing and illegally transporting a mithun.  The stolen animal was successfully recovered. The accused have been identified as Philip Lego (28) of Ayeng Village under Mebo Police Station, Kanggong Lego (19) of Ayeng Village, and Nandu Nath (22), a driver from Chumoni Village in Assam's North Lakhimpur district. According to police, the accused allegedly stole the mithun from the Partung area and were transporting it towards the Itanagar Capital Region (ICR).  Acting on specific intelligence, police intercepted the vehicle carrying the stolen animal at the Gumto Police Check Gate, leading to the recovery of the mithun and the arrest of all three accused. Dr. Lige Basar, Three Others Killed in Assam Crash

  Khetri/Itanagar, May 29:  A tragic road accident in Assam's Khetri area on Friday claimed the lives of four people from Arunachal Pradesh, including a senior veterinary officer, his wife, and two medical students, triggering widespread condolences across the state. The deceased have been identified as Dr. Lige Basar, Veterinary Officer of Keyi Panyor district and president of the Basar Aao Welfare Association (BAWA), his wife Kunga Doima Basar, their son Gemar Basar, and Karma S. Khirmey, Gemar's friend and fellow MBBS student. According to traffic officials, the accident occurred between 11:30 a.m. and noon when the Mahindra Bolero (AR-01Q-0042) in which they were travelling reportedly collided with a truck parked along National Highway 27 in Assam's Khetri area.
