Five-Year-Old Donates Piggy Bank for Possa Flood Victims

In a touching display of compassion, five-year-old Nich Rakhap has donated the savings from a personal piggy bank to support families affected by the recent flash floods that devastated Possa and the NEEPCO Colony area in Keyi Panyor district.

The flash floods left a trail of destruction, claiming lives, leaving several people missing, washing away homes, damaging roads and infrastructure, and disrupting the lives of countless families. Rescue teams, including the NDRF, police, district administration, and volunteers, have been working tirelessly in search, rescue, and relief operations, while affected communities continue the long process of rebuilding their lives.

In the wake of the tragedy, people from across Arunachal Pradesh and beyond have come together in an extraordinary display of solidarity. Donations, relief materials, financial assistance, and prayers have poured in from individuals, community groups, and organisations, reflecting a shared commitment to stand with the affected families during this difficult time.

Among the many inspiring initiatives, the Dirty Angels motorcycle club from Sikkim organised a donation drive in Gangtok to raise funds for the Possa flash flood victims. Arunachal Pradesh content creator Aman Apang, currently based in Japan, also set an inspiring example by extending support and encouraging others to contribute, proving that distance is no barrier when it comes to standing with one's people during times of crisis.

Adding to the growing wave of support, the Federation of Arunachal Riders (FAR) joined hands with Ziro Royal Enfielders (ZRE) to launch a statewide relief and donation drive for families affected by the cloudburst and flash floods in Keyi Panyor district. The initiative has further strengthened the collective humanitarian response, encouraging riders and citizens across the state to contribute towards relief and rehabilitation efforts.

Besides these notable examples, countless individuals, youth bodies, unions, civil society organisations, and well-wishers have stepped forward to provide assistance in various forms, demonstrating the remarkable spirit of unity and compassion that has emerged in the aftermath of the disaster.

Amid these acts of generosity, one gesture has especially captured the hearts of many. Instead of keeping the coins carefully saved in a small piggy bank, five-year-old Nich Rakhap chose to donate every rupee to help families who had lost so much. The donation was formally handed over to the District Administration to support ongoing relief and rehabilitation efforts.

Though modest in monetary value, the contribution carries an immeasurable message. It reminds us that generosity is not defined by the amount one gives, but by the compassion behind the act. At an age when most children save for toys or treats, Nich chose to stand with those facing one of the darkest moments of their lives.

Three Held for Mithun Theft in East Siang

  PASIGHAT, July 17:  In a successful joint operation, Mebo Police and Pasighat Police, with active support from the Mithun Owners Association, arrested three persons for allegedly stealing and illegally transporting a mithun.  The stolen animal was successfully recovered. The accused have been identified as Philip Lego (28) of Ayeng Village under Mebo Police Station, Kanggong Lego (19) of Ayeng Village, and Nandu Nath (22), a driver from Chumoni Village in Assam's North Lakhimpur district. According to police, the accused allegedly stole the mithun from the Partung area and were transporting it towards the Itanagar Capital Region (ICR).  Acting on specific intelligence, police intercepted the vehicle carrying the stolen animal at the Gumto Police Check Gate, leading to the recovery of the mithun and the arrest of all three accused. Dr. Lige Basar, Three Others Killed in Assam Crash

  Khetri/Itanagar, May 29:  A tragic road accident in Assam's Khetri area on Friday claimed the lives of four people from Arunachal Pradesh, including a senior veterinary officer, his wife, and two medical students, triggering widespread condolences across the state. The deceased have been identified as Dr. Lige Basar, Veterinary Officer of Keyi Panyor district and president of the Basar Aao Welfare Association (BAWA), his wife Kunga Doima Basar, their son Gemar Basar, and Karma S. Khirmey, Gemar's friend and fellow MBBS student. According to traffic officials, the accident occurred between 11:30 a.m. and noon when the Mahindra Bolero (AR-01Q-0042) in which they were travelling reportedly collided with a truck parked along National Highway 27 in Assam's Khetri area. All four occupants of the vehicle died at the scene.
