East Kameng Police Launch Anti-Drug Awareness Drive at Seppa School

Seppa, June 23: 

As part of the observance of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on June 26, East Kameng District Police conducted an awareness programme at LBSNV-1 School in Seppa, engaging students and teachers in a campaign against substance abuse.

The initiative aimed to educate young people about the harmful effects of drug abuse and the dangers associated with illicit trafficking, while promoting healthy, responsible, and drug-free lifestyles.

During the interactive session, police officials highlighted the growing threat posed by substance abuse and stressed the importance of early awareness and prevention. Students were encouraged to make informed choices, resist peer pressure, and actively contribute to building a safer and healthier society.

The officers emphasized that the fight against drug abuse is a collective responsibility that requires the active involvement of families, educational institutions, communities, and law enforcement agencies. They called upon all stakeholders to work together in creating a drug-free environment for future generations.

The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and teachers, reflecting a shared commitment towards spreading awareness and combating the menace of drug abuse.

East Kameng Police reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding youth and strengthening community efforts in the pursuit of a drug-free society.

Three Held for Mithun Theft in East Siang

  PASIGHAT, July 17:  In a successful joint operation, Mebo Police and Pasighat Police, with active support from the Mithun Owners Association, arrested three persons for allegedly stealing and illegally transporting a mithun.  The stolen animal was successfully recovered. The accused have been identified as Philip Lego (28) of Ayeng Village under Mebo Police Station, Kanggong Lego (19) of Ayeng Village, and Nandu Nath (22), a driver from Chumoni Village in Assam's North Lakhimpur district. According to police, the accused allegedly stole the mithun from the Partung area and were transporting it towards the Itanagar Capital Region (ICR).  Acting on specific intelligence, police intercepted the vehicle carrying the stolen animal at the Gumto Police Check Gate, leading to the recovery of the mithun and the arrest of all three accused. Dr. Lige Basar, Three Others Killed in Assam Crash

  Khetri/Itanagar, May 29:  A tragic road accident in Assam's Khetri area on Friday claimed the lives of four people from Arunachal Pradesh, including a senior veterinary officer, his wife, and two medical students, triggering widespread condolences across the state. The deceased have been identified as Dr. Lige Basar, Veterinary Officer of Keyi Panyor district and president of the Basar Aao Welfare Association (BAWA), his wife Kunga Doima Basar, their son Gemar Basar, and Karma S. Khirmey, Gemar's friend and fellow MBBS student. According to traffic officials, the accident occurred between 11:30 a.m. and noon when the Mahindra Bolero (AR-01Q-0042) in which they were travelling reportedly collided with a truck parked along National Highway 27 in Assam's Khetri area. All four occupants of the vehicle died at the scene.
