Arunachal’s Wayshi Sangno Scripts Historic Pro MMA Win in Indonesia

ITANAGAR, June 27: 

Arunachal Pradesh's mixed martial arts (MMA) fraternity has achieved a historic milestone as East Kameng's Wayshi Sangno became the first fighter from the state to register a professional MMA victory in Indonesia.

Representing India at Canggu Fight Night 39, Sangno delivered an impressive performance by defeating Indonesia's Namr Arad via first-round technical knockout (TKO) in the strawweight division. The victory marks a significant achievement not only in his professional career but also for the growing MMA landscape of Arunachal Pradesh.

Sangno asserted his dominance from the opening moments of the contest. He quickly took control by lifting Arad and slamming him onto the canvas before unleashing a relentless barrage of ground-and-pound strikes. His aggressive approach left the Indonesian fighter struggling to regain momentum.

Despite Arad's determined attempts to reverse the fight with two guillotine choke submissions from the bottom position, Sangno remained composed and skillfully escaped both submission attempts. The fighter from Abrasumante Gym continued to dictate the pace, maintaining top control while repeatedly landing heavy punches that kept his opponent under constant pressure.

With approximately 30 seconds remaining in the opening round, the referee intervened and stopped the contest to prevent further damage, awarding Sangno a convincing victory by technical knockout.

The landmark win establishes Wayshi Sangno as the first Arunachali fighter to secure a professional MMA victory on Indonesian soil, further highlighting the emergence of talented combat sports athletes from the state on the international stage.

Sangno hails from Weshi village under Pakoti Circle in East Kameng district. He is the son of Nani Weshi Sangno and Late Darmang Weshi Sangno. His historic triumph is expected to inspire aspiring MMA athletes across Arunachal Pradesh while bringing recognition to the state's rapidly developing combat sports community.

Three Held for Mithun Theft in East Siang

  PASIGHAT, July 17:  In a successful joint operation, Mebo Police and Pasighat Police, with active support from the Mithun Owners Association, arrested three persons for allegedly stealing and illegally transporting a mithun.  The stolen animal was successfully recovered. The accused have been identified as Philip Lego (28) of Ayeng Village under Mebo Police Station, Kanggong Lego (19) of Ayeng Village, and Nandu Nath (22), a driver from Chumoni Village in Assam's North Lakhimpur district. According to police, the accused allegedly stole the mithun from the Partung area and were transporting it towards the Itanagar Capital Region (ICR).  Acting on specific intelligence, police intercepted the vehicle carrying the stolen animal at the Gumto Police Check Gate, leading to the recovery of the mithun and the arrest of all three accused. Dr. Lige Basar, Three Others Killed in Assam Crash

  Khetri/Itanagar, May 29:  A tragic road accident in Assam's Khetri area on Friday claimed the lives of four people from Arunachal Pradesh, including a senior veterinary officer, his wife, and two medical students, triggering widespread condolences across the state. The deceased have been identified as Dr. Lige Basar, Veterinary Officer of Keyi Panyor district and president of the Basar Aao Welfare Association (BAWA), his wife Kunga Doima Basar, their son Gemar Basar, and Karma S. Khirmey, Gemar's friend and fellow MBBS student. According to traffic officials, the accident occurred between 11:30 a.m. and noon when the Mahindra Bolero (AR-01Q-0042) in which they were travelling reportedly collided with a truck parked along National Highway 27 in Assam's Khetri area. All four occupants of the vehicle died at the scene.
