50 Litres of Illegal Liquor Seized in Mahadevpur Crackdown

Namsai, June 29: 

In a major crackdown on the illegal liquor trade, a joint enforcement team comprising officials from the Tax & Excise Department, Mahadevpur Police, and the General Administration carried out a coordinated inspection drive across Mahadevpur township on Monday. The operation was launched as part of the district administration's ongoing efforts to curb unlawful activities, strengthen law enforcement, and maintain public order.

The drive specifically targeted the illegal sale and distribution of Indian-Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) and beer. Acting on intelligence and routine enforcement measures, the joint team conducted thorough inspections at several suspected locations within the township to detect unauthorized storage and sale of liquor.

During the operation, officials seized approximately 50 litres of illegally stored IMFL and beer from various locations. The seized liquor was confiscated on the spot, and necessary legal proceedings have been initiated against those found violating the provisions of the Excise Act and other applicable laws.

Officials stated that the enforcement drive was aimed at ensuring strict compliance with excise regulations and eliminating the menace of bootlegging, which not only results in revenue loss to the government but also poses a serious threat to public safety and law and order.

The district administration emphasized that such coordinated enforcement drives will continue across Namsai district to prevent illegal liquor trade and deter individuals involved in unlawful activities. Authorities warned that strict action would be taken against anyone found manufacturing, storing, transporting, or selling liquor without valid authorization.

Reaffirming its commitment to maintaining a safe, lawful, and peaceful environment, Namsai Police urged citizens to extend their cooperation by promptly reporting any information related to the illegal sale, storage, or transportation of liquor. The police stated that public support remains crucial in ensuring effective enforcement and safeguarding the well-being of the community.

Three Held for Mithun Theft in East Siang

  PASIGHAT, July 17:  In a successful joint operation, Mebo Police and Pasighat Police, with active support from the Mithun Owners Association, arrested three persons for allegedly stealing and illegally transporting a mithun.  The stolen animal was successfully recovered. The accused have been identified as Philip Lego (28) of Ayeng Village under Mebo Police Station, Kanggong Lego (19) of Ayeng Village, and Nandu Nath (22), a driver from Chumoni Village in Assam's North Lakhimpur district. According to police, the accused allegedly stole the mithun from the Partung area and were transporting it towards the Itanagar Capital Region (ICR).  Acting on specific intelligence, police intercepted the vehicle carrying the stolen animal at the Gumto Police Check Gate, leading to the recovery of the mithun and the arrest of all three accused. Dr. Lige Basar, Three Others Killed in Assam Crash

  Khetri/Itanagar, May 29:  A tragic road accident in Assam's Khetri area on Friday claimed the lives of four people from Arunachal Pradesh, including a senior veterinary officer, his wife, and two medical students, triggering widespread condolences across the state. The deceased have been identified as Dr. Lige Basar, Veterinary Officer of Keyi Panyor district and president of the Basar Aao Welfare Association (BAWA), his wife Kunga Doima Basar, their son Gemar Basar, and Karma S. Khirmey, Gemar's friend and fellow MBBS student. According to traffic officials, the accident occurred between 11:30 a.m. and noon when the Mahindra Bolero (AR-01Q-0042) in which they were travelling reportedly collided with a truck parked along National Highway 27 in Assam's Khetri area.
