ITANAGAR, September 9: 

The second day of the 7th (Special) Session of the Eighth Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly witnessed a significant constitutional occasion with Vice President of India Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan addressing the House.

Speaker of the Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly Shri Tesam Pongte Tutsa welcomed the Vice President and said the House was privileged and honoured to receive him during the special session.

The Speaker’s welcome address highlighted the significance of the Vice President’s presence in the State Legislature and the importance of upholding democratic and constitutional traditions.

The House was also addressed by Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt. Gen. K. T. Parnaik, PVSM, UYSM, YSM (Retd.), and Chief Minister Shri Pema Khandu.

Their addresses added significance to the proceedings, with the occasion reflecting the importance accorded to democratic institutions, constitutional values and parliamentary traditions in Arunachal Pradesh.

During his visit to the Legislative Assembly, Vice President Radhakrishnan also visited the Assembly Museum and Photo Gallery, accompanied by other dignitaries.

The museum and gallery showcase the legislative heritage and historical journey of Arunachal Pradesh, offering an insight into the evolution of the State’s legislative institution over the years.

The visit provided an opportunity to appreciate the Assembly’s institutional history and the development of its parliamentary traditions.

The Vice President’s address and visit marked a memorable occasion for the Arunachal Pradesh Legislature, reaffirming the importance of constitutional institutions in strengthening democratic governance in the state.

Three Held for Mithun Theft in East Siang

  PASIGHAT, July 17:  In a successful joint operation, Mebo Police and Pasighat Police, with active support from the Mithun Owners Association, arrested three persons for allegedly stealing and illegally transporting a mithun.  The stolen animal was successfully recovered. The accused have been identified as Philip Lego (28) of Ayeng Village under Mebo Police Station, Kanggong Lego (19) of Ayeng Village, and Nandu Nath (22), a driver from Chumoni Village in Assam's North Lakhimpur district. According to police, the accused allegedly stole the mithun from the Partung area and were transporting it towards the Itanagar Capital Region (ICR).  Acting on specific intelligence, police intercepted the vehicle carrying the stolen animal at the Gumto Police Check Gate, leading to the recovery of the mithun and the arrest of all three accused. Dr. Lige Basar, Three Others Killed in Assam Crash

  Khetri/Itanagar, May 29:  A tragic road accident in Assam's Khetri area on Friday claimed the lives of four people from Arunachal Pradesh, including a senior veterinary officer, his wife, and two medical students, triggering widespread condolences across the state. The deceased have been identified as Dr. Lige Basar, Veterinary Officer of Keyi Panyor district and president of the Basar Aao Welfare Association (BAWA), his wife Kunga Doima Basar, their son Gemar Basar, and Karma S. Khirmey, Gemar's friend and fellow MBBS student. According to traffic officials, the accident occurred between 11:30 a.m. and noon when the Mahindra Bolero (AR-01Q-0042) in which they were travelling reportedly collided with a truck parked along National Highway 27 in Assam's Khetri area. All four occupants of the vehicle died at the scene.
