Two Alleged NSCN-IM OGWs Held in Arunachal

TIRAP, September 6: 

The Assam Rifles apprehended two alleged over ground workers (OGWs) linked to the NSCN (IM) from the Wara-I area of Arunachal Pradesh on Saturday.

The operation was carried out following intelligence inputs about the movement and activities of suspected insurgent associates.

According to the Assam Rifles, the two men were allegedly associated with SS Maj Wangjen Pantha of the NSCN (IM) and were suspected of attempting to recruit local youth into insurgent activities.

The apprehended individuals were identified as Kekho Namet and Yumsen Mannow, both residents of Lazu village in Tirap district.

During preliminary interrogation, the duo reportedly admitted to alleged involvement in facilitating recruitment, providing logistical support and assisting in the movement and communication of insurgent cadres, according to the security forces.

The Assam Rifles further claimed that the two had allegedly facilitated the movement of an NSCN (K-YA) cadre, along with a weapon, to the group’s camp.

The apprehension is part of ongoing security efforts to track suspected insurgent networks and their local support structures in the region.

Further investigation into the alleged activities and possible links of the two individuals is underway.

Three Held for Mithun Theft in East Siang

  PASIGHAT, July 17:  In a successful joint operation, Mebo Police and Pasighat Police, with active support from the Mithun Owners Association, arrested three persons for allegedly stealing and illegally transporting a mithun.  The stolen animal was successfully recovered. The accused have been identified as Philip Lego (28) of Ayeng Village under Mebo Police Station, Kanggong Lego (19) of Ayeng Village, and Nandu Nath (22), a driver from Chumoni Village in Assam's North Lakhimpur district. According to police, the accused allegedly stole the mithun from the Partung area and were transporting it towards the Itanagar Capital Region (ICR).  Acting on specific intelligence, police intercepted the vehicle carrying the stolen animal at the Gumto Police Check Gate, leading to the recovery of the mithun and the arrest of all three accused. Dr. Lige Basar, Three Others Killed in Assam Crash

  Khetri/Itanagar, May 29:  A tragic road accident in Assam's Khetri area on Friday claimed the lives of four people from Arunachal Pradesh, including a senior veterinary officer, his wife, and two medical students, triggering widespread condolences across the state. The deceased have been identified as Dr. Lige Basar, Veterinary Officer of Keyi Panyor district and president of the Basar Aao Welfare Association (BAWA), his wife Kunga Doima Basar, their son Gemar Basar, and Karma S. Khirmey, Gemar's friend and fellow MBBS student. According to traffic officials, the accident occurred between 11:30 a.m. and noon when the Mahindra Bolero (AR-01Q-0042) in which they were travelling reportedly collided with a truck parked along National Highway 27 in Assam's Khetri area. All four occupants of the vehicle died at the scene.
