Tame Peter Tarh Wins Silver at Northeast Bodybuilding Championship

NAGALAND, September 12:

Arunachal Pradesh Police Constable Tame Peter Tarh has won the silver medal in the 75-kg category at the 2nd Mr Northeast Bodybuilding & Physique Championship 2026, being held in Kohima, Nagaland.

Tarh, who is a member of Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein’s security team, secured the silver at the championship, which brings together bodybuilding athletes from across the Northeastern states.

The competition is being held at the Capital Cultural Hall in Kohima and is organised by the Nagaland Bodybuilding and Fitness Association (NBBFA) under the aegis of the Indian Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation (IBBFF) and the Northeast Bodybuilding Federation (NEBBF).

The men’s bodybuilding competition features multiple weight categories, including 55 kg, 60 kg, 65 kg, 70 kg, 75 kg, and 80 kg and above, with around 70–80 athletes expected to participate.

The silver medal adds to Tarh’s notable bodybuilding record this year. Earlier in 2026, he won the Mr Arunachal 2026 title at the 10th State-Level Bodybuilding Championship in Itanagar, taking gold in the 70-kg-and-above category.

Following his latest achievement, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein extended his “heartiest congratulations” to Tarh in a social media post on Saturday.

Mein praised Tarh’s dedication and discipline in both government service and bodybuilding, describing the achievement as a reflection of his commitment to fitness and sporting excellence.

The state-level championship in which Tarh previously won the Mr Arunachal title was organised by the Arunachal Bodybuilding Association under the aegis of the Indian Body Builders Federation and Northeast Body Builders Federation.

Three Held for Mithun Theft in East Siang

  PASIGHAT, July 17:  In a successful joint operation, Mebo Police and Pasighat Police, with active support from the Mithun Owners Association, arrested three persons for allegedly stealing and illegally transporting a mithun.  The stolen animal was successfully recovered. The accused have been identified as Philip Lego (28) of Ayeng Village under Mebo Police Station, Kanggong Lego (19) of Ayeng Village, and Nandu Nath (22), a driver from Chumoni Village in Assam's North Lakhimpur district. According to police, the accused allegedly stole the mithun from the Partung area and were transporting it towards the Itanagar Capital Region (ICR).  Acting on specific intelligence, police intercepted the vehicle carrying the stolen animal at the Gumto Police Check Gate, leading to the recovery of the mithun and the arrest of all three accused. Dr. Lige Basar, Three Others Killed in Assam Crash

  Khetri/Itanagar, May 29:  A tragic road accident in Assam's Khetri area on Friday claimed the lives of four people from Arunachal Pradesh, including a senior veterinary officer, his wife, and two medical students, triggering widespread condolences across the state. The deceased have been identified as Dr. Lige Basar, Veterinary Officer of Keyi Panyor district and president of the Basar Aao Welfare Association (BAWA), his wife Kunga Doima Basar, their son Gemar Basar, and Karma S. Khirmey, Gemar's friend and fellow MBBS student. According to traffic officials, the accident occurred between 11:30 a.m. and noon when the Mahindra Bolero (AR-01Q-0042) in which they were travelling reportedly collided with a truck parked along National Highway 27 in Assam's Khetri area. All four occupants of the vehicle died at the scene.
