Naharlagun Police Arrest LPG Theft Suspect, Recover 23 Cylinders

Naharlagun, September 4: 

Naharlagun Police have arrested a 30-year-old man in connection with a series of LPG cylinder thefts reported in the Naharlagun area, recovering 23 stolen cylinders during raids carried out at different locations.

The accused has been identified as Arjun Juga (30), a resident of IG Park Colony, Itanagar. He was arrested from Juli Road on September 3 following a police investigation into the theft cases.

Police said the case was registered as NG PS Case No. 114/26 under Section 305(a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

The investigation involved a detailed analysis of the pattern of thefts, which helped police identify the suspected accused. Based on the findings, a police team moved to apprehend him and subsequently carried out searches at several locations.

The arrest was made by a team led by Inspector Krishnendu Dev, Officer-in-Charge of Naharlagun Police Station, under the supervision of SDPO Rishi Longdo.

Following the arrest, police conducted raids at various locations linked to the investigation. The operations resulted in the recovery of 23 LPG cylinders suspected to have been stolen.

The recovery is expected to help investigators establish further details about the thefts and determine whether the accused was involved in other similar incidents in the area. Further investigation into the case is underway.

SP ICR Naharlagun Dr. Nyelam Nega, APPS, has urged residents to remain alert and keep a close watch on their neighbourhoods. 

He particularly advised people to take precautions around houses and properties that remain unattended for long periods.

Police said such premises can be vulnerable to habitual offenders, making community vigilance an important part of preventing property-related crimes.

Dr. Nega also reaffirmed the commitment of ICR Naharlagun Police to taking firm action against anti-social activities and strengthening public safety in the region.

The police have appealed to residents to promptly report any suspicious activity or information that could assist ongoing investigations and help prevent similar incidents.

Three Held for Mithun Theft in East Siang

  PASIGHAT, July 17:  In a successful joint operation, Mebo Police and Pasighat Police, with active support from the Mithun Owners Association, arrested three persons for allegedly stealing and illegally transporting a mithun.  The stolen animal was successfully recovered. The accused have been identified as Philip Lego (28) of Ayeng Village under Mebo Police Station, Kanggong Lego (19) of Ayeng Village, and Nandu Nath (22), a driver from Chumoni Village in Assam's North Lakhimpur district. According to police, the accused allegedly stole the mithun from the Partung area and were transporting it towards the Itanagar Capital Region (ICR).  Acting on specific intelligence, police intercepted the vehicle carrying the stolen animal at the Gumto Police Check Gate, leading to the recovery of the mithun and the arrest of all three accused. Dr. Lige Basar, Three Others Killed in Assam Crash

  Khetri/Itanagar, May 29:  A tragic road accident in Assam's Khetri area on Friday claimed the lives of four people from Arunachal Pradesh, including a senior veterinary officer, his wife, and two medical students, triggering widespread condolences across the state. The deceased have been identified as Dr. Lige Basar, Veterinary Officer of Keyi Panyor district and president of the Basar Aao Welfare Association (BAWA), his wife Kunga Doima Basar, their son Gemar Basar, and Karma S. Khirmey, Gemar's friend and fellow MBBS student. According to traffic officials, the accident occurred between 11:30 a.m. and noon when the Mahindra Bolero (AR-01Q-0042) in which they were travelling reportedly collided with a truck parked along National Highway 27 in Assam's Khetri area.
