Arunachal Pradesh Thrash Andhra Pradesh 19–0 in BC Roy Trophy

NARAINPUR/Chattisgarh, September 4 : 

Arunachal Pradesh Junior Boys delivered a sensational attacking performance, routing Andhra Pradesh 19–0 in the Junior Boys’ National Football Championship for the Dr. B.C. Roy Trophy 2026–27, Tier 2.

The match was played at the RK Ashram Ground in Narainpur, Chhattisgarh, with Arunachal turning the contest into a one-sided affair. The fixture was part of Group A, which also features Pondicherry and Himachal Pradesh. 

Arunachal opened the scoring in the 17th minute through Gammar Taipodia, before Tomar Basar struck twice in the 19th and 24th minutes.

Tagio Cheke extended the advantage in the 28th minute, while Kiran Taba added another in the 36th minute to give Arunachal a commanding lead.

The second half saw Arunachal maintain relentless pressure. Damniya Boje scored four times in the 45th, 46th, 60th and 89th minutes, while Gebin Riba added goals in the 55th and 62nd minutes.

Yarda Kasap found the net in the 68th minute, followed by another goal from Kiran Taba in the 71st. Khyoda Taku Talu then scored in the 74th minute.

James Patir completed a remarkable four-goal haul, scoring in the 72nd, 75th, 82nd and 90th minutes. Kiran Taba also completed his hat-trick with his third goal in the 85th minute.

The emphatic result adds to an impressive tournament run for Arunachal, who had earlier demolished Pondicherry 15–0 before defeating Himachal Pradesh 2–0. 

With 34 goals scored across three group matches and none conceded, Arunachal have made a powerful statement in Group A and strengthened their push for a place in the knockout stage.

The 2026–27 Dr. B.C. Roy Trophy is being contested from August 25 to September 9, with Tier 2 matches hosted at Narainpur.

Three Held for Mithun Theft in East Siang

  PASIGHAT, July 17:  In a successful joint operation, Mebo Police and Pasighat Police, with active support from the Mithun Owners Association, arrested three persons for allegedly stealing and illegally transporting a mithun.  The stolen animal was successfully recovered. The accused have been identified as Philip Lego (28) of Ayeng Village under Mebo Police Station, Kanggong Lego (19) of Ayeng Village, and Nandu Nath (22), a driver from Chumoni Village in Assam's North Lakhimpur district. According to police, the accused allegedly stole the mithun from the Partung area and were transporting it towards the Itanagar Capital Region (ICR).  Acting on specific intelligence, police intercepted the vehicle carrying the stolen animal at the Gumto Police Check Gate, leading to the recovery of the mithun and the arrest of all three accused. Dr. Lige Basar, Three Others Killed in Assam Crash

  Khetri/Itanagar, May 29:  A tragic road accident in Assam's Khetri area on Friday claimed the lives of four people from Arunachal Pradesh, including a senior veterinary officer, his wife, and two medical students, triggering widespread condolences across the state. The deceased have been identified as Dr. Lige Basar, Veterinary Officer of Keyi Panyor district and president of the Basar Aao Welfare Association (BAWA), his wife Kunga Doima Basar, their son Gemar Basar, and Karma S. Khirmey, Gemar's friend and fellow MBBS student. According to traffic officials, the accident occurred between 11:30 a.m. and noon when the Mahindra Bolero (AR-01Q-0042) in which they were travelling reportedly collided with a truck parked along National Highway 27 in Assam's Khetri area. All four occupants of the vehicle died at the scene.
