Women Help Desk Seijosa Conducts Child Safety Awareness Programme

SEIJOSA, Aug 5:

The Women Help Desk, Seijosa, under Pakke Kessang District Police, conducted a child safety and protection awareness programme to promote the well-being of children through community outreach and public awareness.

The programme brought together parents of children aged 2–5 years, along with teachers from nursery schools and daycare centres. 

The initiative focused on enhancing awareness and creating safer, more child-friendly environments in educational institutions.

During the session, officials highlighted key provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012, the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, and child rights. 

Participants were also sensitized on the shared responsibility of parents, teachers, and caregivers in safeguarding children from abuse, neglect, and exploitation.

The awareness drive emphasized the importance of identifying early warning signs of abuse, reporting offences promptly, creating child-safe spaces, and maintaining open communication with children to build trust and confidence.

District Police Pakke Kessang stated that the Women Help Desk will continue organizing such outreach programmes to strengthen community participation and ensure a safe, secure, and protective environment for every child.

Three Held for Mithun Theft in East Siang

  PASIGHAT, July 17:  In a successful joint operation, Mebo Police and Pasighat Police, with active support from the Mithun Owners Association, arrested three persons for allegedly stealing and illegally transporting a mithun.  The stolen animal was successfully recovered. The accused have been identified as Philip Lego (28) of Ayeng Village under Mebo Police Station, Kanggong Lego (19) of Ayeng Village, and Nandu Nath (22), a driver from Chumoni Village in Assam's North Lakhimpur district. According to police, the accused allegedly stole the mithun from the Partung area and were transporting it towards the Itanagar Capital Region (ICR).  Acting on specific intelligence, police intercepted the vehicle carrying the stolen animal at the Gumto Police Check Gate, leading to the recovery of the mithun and the arrest of all three accused. Dr. Lige Basar, Three Others Killed in Assam Crash

  Khetri/Itanagar, May 29:  A tragic road accident in Assam's Khetri area on Friday claimed the lives of four people from Arunachal Pradesh, including a senior veterinary officer, his wife, and two medical students, triggering widespread condolences across the state. The deceased have been identified as Dr. Lige Basar, Veterinary Officer of Keyi Panyor district and president of the Basar Aao Welfare Association (BAWA), his wife Kunga Doima Basar, their son Gemar Basar, and Karma S. Khirmey, Gemar's friend and fellow MBBS student. According to traffic officials, the accident occurred between 11:30 a.m. and noon when the Mahindra Bolero (AR-01Q-0042) in which they were travelling reportedly collided with a truck parked along National Highway 27 in Assam's Khetri area. All four occupants of the vehicle died at the scene.
