Union Minister Nadda Reviews Flood Relief in Arunachal

ITANAGAR, August 6: 

Union Minister of Health & Family Welfare and Chemicals & Fertilizers, Shri J.P. Nadda, visited Arunachal Pradesh on Thursday to assess the situation in areas affected by the recent flash floods and cloudbursts. 

He was received by Chief Minister Pema Khandu, BJP State leaders, office bearers and Morcha representatives.

As part of his visit, the Union Minister travelled to Possa in Keyi Panyor district, one of the worst-hit locations during the devastating June 24 flash flood. 

The disaster claimed five lives and caused widespread destruction to homes, roads, public infrastructure and agricultural land, leaving many families severely affected.

Interacting with affected residents and officials on the ground, Shri Nadda reviewed the extent of the damage and took stock of the ongoing relief and rehabilitation efforts. 

He assured that the Centre stands firmly with the people of Arunachal Pradesh during this difficult period.

Later, Shri Nadda chaired a high-level review meeting in Itanagar with Chief Minister Pema Khandu, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, Ministers, MLAs and senior administrative officers to assess the overall flood situation and evaluate the progress of relief operations.

He directed all concerned departments to further intensify relief, rehabilitation and healthcare measures so that the needs of affected families are addressed without delay.

 Special emphasis was laid on restoring essential services and providing timely assistance to those displaced by the disaster.

The Union Minister expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for his unwavering concern and continued support for the people of Arunachal Pradesh. 

He said the Prime Minister has been closely monitoring the situation and remains committed to ensuring every possible assistance reaches the affected areas.

Shri Nadda reaffirmed that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Government of India, in close coordination with the State Government, will continue to provide swift relief, financial assistance and all necessary support until normalcy is restored.

His visit to the flood-affected areas reflects the Centre's commitment to standing with the people of Arunachal Pradesh and accelerating recovery efforts in the wake of one of the state's most devastating natural disasters in recent years.

Three Held for Mithun Theft in East Siang

  PASIGHAT, July 17:  In a successful joint operation, Mebo Police and Pasighat Police, with active support from the Mithun Owners Association, arrested three persons for allegedly stealing and illegally transporting a mithun.  The stolen animal was successfully recovered. The accused have been identified as Philip Lego (28) of Ayeng Village under Mebo Police Station, Kanggong Lego (19) of Ayeng Village, and Nandu Nath (22), a driver from Chumoni Village in Assam's North Lakhimpur district. According to police, the accused allegedly stole the mithun from the Partung area and were transporting it towards the Itanagar Capital Region (ICR).  Acting on specific intelligence, police intercepted the vehicle carrying the stolen animal at the Gumto Police Check Gate, leading to the recovery of the mithun and the arrest of all three accused. Dr. Lige Basar, Three Others Killed in Assam Crash

  Khetri/Itanagar, May 29:  A tragic road accident in Assam's Khetri area on Friday claimed the lives of four people from Arunachal Pradesh, including a senior veterinary officer, his wife, and two medical students, triggering widespread condolences across the state. The deceased have been identified as Dr. Lige Basar, Veterinary Officer of Keyi Panyor district and president of the Basar Aao Welfare Association (BAWA), his wife Kunga Doima Basar, their son Gemar Basar, and Karma S. Khirmey, Gemar's friend and fellow MBBS student. According to traffic officials, the accident occurred between 11:30 a.m. and noon when the Mahindra Bolero (AR-01Q-0042) in which they were travelling reportedly collided with a truck parked along National Highway 27 in Assam's Khetri area. All four occupants of the vehicle died at the scene.
