UAPF Stages Mass Rally in Itanagar Over Public Issues

ITANGAR, August 3:

The United Arunachal People's Forum (UAPF) on Monday organized a mass rally in the state capital, with hundreds of people marching from Akashdeep to I.G. Park to press the Arunachal Pradesh Government for immediate action on a three-point charter of demands.

The rally was held under the theme "One Arunachal, One Voice."

Participants carrying banners and placards took part in the peaceful march, highlighting issues related to electricity, land rights, and transparency in public infrastructure projects.

The rally witnessed the participation of people from different sections of society who voiced support for the forum's demands.

The forum's first demand called for the scrapping of Smart Prepaid Meters, the abolition of the IT Division under the Department of Power, and the provision of 1,000 units of free electricity to every domestic consumer in the state.

According to the forum, the move would reduce the financial burden on households and ensure that the benefits of Arunachal Pradesh's power resources reach its people.

The second demand focused on the early de-reservation and rationalization of forest boundaries in the Itanagar Capital Region.

The forum stated that the long-pending issue has affected land ownership, delayed developmental activities, and created difficulties for residents living within the capital region.

The UAPF also demanded the immediate constitution of a high-level independent inquiry into the alleged misuse of more than ₹121 crore sanctioned for the construction of the Dari–Chambang Road in Kra Daadi district.

The forum urged the government to ensure transparency, fix accountability, and take appropriate action if any irregularities are found.

The rally concluded peacefully at I.G. Park, where UAPF leaders reiterated their appeal to the state government to address the issues without further delay.

They emphasized that the movement was intended to safeguard public interest through democratic and peaceful means.

Speaking on the occasion, UAPF Chairman-cum-General Secretary Dangu Mama said the rally was organized to amplify the voice of the people and seek timely government intervention on issues that directly affect the lives and welfare of the citizens of Arunachal Pradesh.

He urged the government to consider the forum's demands in the larger public interest and take concrete steps toward their implementation.
