Tawang Police Trace Two Missing Minor Nuns

Tawang, August 11: 

Two minor nuns (Ani) who went missing from Gyangon Ani Gonpa in Tawang were safely traced by police within an hour after a complaint was received on Tuesday morning.

A verbal complaint was received at around 8:40 am on August 11, stating that the two minors had been missing from the Gonpa since around 7:30 pm on August 10.

Acting promptly on the information, a team from Tawang Police Station led by Inspector N. Angu, OC PS-cum-WPS Tawang, launched a search operation in and around the area.

The search covered Gyangon Ani Gonpa, 4 Kilo, 8 Kilo, Pani Tanki and other nearby locations. The police team traced both missing nuns while they were on their way near 8 Kilo.

The two nuns were brought to the police station, and the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) was immediately informed about the matter.

Counselling was subsequently provided to the two nuns and their respective parents at the police station by CWC Chairman Norbu Drema and MMT member Tashi Wangmu.

Following the counselling and necessary formalities, both nuns were handed over safely to their respective parents in the presence of the CWC Chairman and the MMT member.

The swift response and coordinated search by Tawang Police helped ensure that the two minors were located safely shortly after the complaint was received.

Three Held for Mithun Theft in East Siang

  PASIGHAT, July 17:  In a successful joint operation, Mebo Police and Pasighat Police, with active support from the Mithun Owners Association, arrested three persons for allegedly stealing and illegally transporting a mithun.  The stolen animal was successfully recovered. The accused have been identified as Philip Lego (28) of Ayeng Village under Mebo Police Station, Kanggong Lego (19) of Ayeng Village, and Nandu Nath (22), a driver from Chumoni Village in Assam's North Lakhimpur district. According to police, the accused allegedly stole the mithun from the Partung area and were transporting it towards the Itanagar Capital Region (ICR).  Acting on specific intelligence, police intercepted the vehicle carrying the stolen animal at the Gumto Police Check Gate, leading to the recovery of the mithun and the arrest of all three accused. Dr. Lige Basar, Three Others Killed in Assam Crash

  Khetri/Itanagar, May 29:  A tragic road accident in Assam's Khetri area on Friday claimed the lives of four people from Arunachal Pradesh, including a senior veterinary officer, his wife, and two medical students, triggering widespread condolences across the state. The deceased have been identified as Dr. Lige Basar, Veterinary Officer of Keyi Panyor district and president of the Basar Aao Welfare Association (BAWA), his wife Kunga Doima Basar, their son Gemar Basar, and Karma S. Khirmey, Gemar's friend and fellow MBBS student. According to traffic officials, the accident occurred between 11:30 a.m. and noon when the Mahindra Bolero (AR-01Q-0042) in which they were travelling reportedly collided with a truck parked along National Highway 27 in Assam's Khetri area.
