CHONBURI/ITANAGAR, July 31:

Arunachal Pradesh's Miss Sianiamalu Kri has added another feather to the state's sporting cap by winning the gold medal at the 9th Heroes International Taekwondo Championship, being held in Pattaya City, Chonburi, Thailand, from 31 July to 2 August 2026.

Kri delivered an outstanding performance against international competitors to secure the top podium finish, bringing pride to both Arunachal Pradesh and India. 

The 9th Heroes International Taekwondo Championship has attracted taekwondo practitioners from several countries, providing a highly competitive platform for athletes to showcase their skills and determination. 

Amid strong international competition, Kri's exceptional performance earned her the coveted gold medal.

Her triumph reflects years of rigorous training, unwavering dedication, discipline, and perseverance. 

The achievement not only highlights her individual excellence but also underscores the potential of athletes from Arunachal Pradesh to excel in international sporting events.

Three Held for Mithun Theft in East Siang

  PASIGHAT, July 17:  In a successful joint operation, Mebo Police and Pasighat Police, with active support from the Mithun Owners Association, arrested three persons for allegedly stealing and illegally transporting a mithun.  The stolen animal was successfully recovered. The accused have been identified as Philip Lego (28) of Ayeng Village under Mebo Police Station, Kanggong Lego (19) of Ayeng Village, and Nandu Nath (22), a driver from Chumoni Village in Assam's North Lakhimpur district. According to police, the accused allegedly stole the mithun from the Partung area and were transporting it towards the Itanagar Capital Region (ICR).  Acting on specific intelligence, police intercepted the vehicle carrying the stolen animal at the Gumto Police Check Gate, leading to the recovery of the mithun and the arrest of all three accused. Dr. Lige Basar, Three Others Killed in Assam Crash

  Khetri/Itanagar, May 29:  A tragic road accident in Assam's Khetri area on Friday claimed the lives of four people from Arunachal Pradesh, including a senior veterinary officer, his wife, and two medical students, triggering widespread condolences across the state. The deceased have been identified as Dr. Lige Basar, Veterinary Officer of Keyi Panyor district and president of the Basar Aao Welfare Association (BAWA), his wife Kunga Doima Basar, their son Gemar Basar, and Karma S. Khirmey, Gemar's friend and fellow MBBS student. According to traffic officials, the accident occurred between 11:30 a.m. and noon when the Mahindra Bolero (AR-01Q-0042) in which they were travelling reportedly collided with a truck parked along National Highway 27 in Assam's Khetri area. All four occupants of the vehicle died at the scene.
