SBI Contributes ₹19.99 Lakh to Arunachal CM Relief Fund

ITANAGAR, August 17: 

The State Bank of India (SBI) has contributed ₹19,99,702 to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) of Arunachal Pradesh to support the state’s preparedness and response to disasters caused by floods and cloudbursts.

Chief Minister Pema Khandu received the contribution from a team of SBI officials in Itanagar. 

The contribution is aimed at strengthening the state’s ability to respond to emergencies during natural disasters.

According to the Chief Minister, the amount will support the procurement of equipment required to combat disasters such as floods and cloudbursts. 

The timely assistance is expected to contribute to improving disaster-response preparedness across the state.

Khandu expressed his appreciation to the SBI team for the contribution, particularly the Deputy General Manager, Dibrugarh, and the Regional Manager, Itanagar.

The contribution comes at a time when Arunachal Pradesh remains vulnerable to heavy rainfall, flash floods, cloudbursts and landslides, particularly during the monsoon season.

The Chief Minister’s Relief Fund is used to provide assistance and support in situations involving natural disasters and other emergencies across the state.

Three Held for Mithun Theft in East Siang

  PASIGHAT, July 17:  In a successful joint operation, Mebo Police and Pasighat Police, with active support from the Mithun Owners Association, arrested three persons for allegedly stealing and illegally transporting a mithun.  The stolen animal was successfully recovered. The accused have been identified as Philip Lego (28) of Ayeng Village under Mebo Police Station, Kanggong Lego (19) of Ayeng Village, and Nandu Nath (22), a driver from Chumoni Village in Assam's North Lakhimpur district. According to police, the accused allegedly stole the mithun from the Partung area and were transporting it towards the Itanagar Capital Region (ICR).  Acting on specific intelligence, police intercepted the vehicle carrying the stolen animal at the Gumto Police Check Gate, leading to the recovery of the mithun and the arrest of all three accused. Dr. Lige Basar, Three Others Killed in Assam Crash

  Khetri/Itanagar, May 29:  A tragic road accident in Assam's Khetri area on Friday claimed the lives of four people from Arunachal Pradesh, including a senior veterinary officer, his wife, and two medical students, triggering widespread condolences across the state. The deceased have been identified as Dr. Lige Basar, Veterinary Officer of Keyi Panyor district and president of the Basar Aao Welfare Association (BAWA), his wife Kunga Doima Basar, their son Gemar Basar, and Karma S. Khirmey, Gemar's friend and fellow MBBS student. According to traffic officials, the accident occurred between 11:30 a.m. and noon when the Mahindra Bolero (AR-01Q-0042) in which they were travelling reportedly collided with a truck parked along National Highway 27 in Assam's Khetri area. All four occupants of the vehicle died at the scene.
