Saint Claret College Ziro Blood Camp Collects 21 Units

ZIRO, August 17: 

The National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit of Saint Claret College (Autonomous), Ziro, in collaboration with the Red Ribbon Club and the Blood Centre of Gyati Takka Zonal General Hospital (GTZGH), Ziro, organised an Outdoor Voluntary Blood Donation Camp on Monday.

The camp witnessed enthusiastic participation from NSS volunteers, students and members of the Red Ribbon Club, who came forward to donate blood and support a cause that can make a direct difference in the lives of people in need.

The programme aimed to encourage voluntary blood donation among young people and spread awareness about the importance of maintaining an adequate blood supply for patients requiring transfusions during emergencies, surgeries and medical treatment.

Throughout the camp, participants were encouraged to understand that a single blood donation can become a valuable source of support for someone facing a critical medical situation. 

The initiative also provided students and volunteers with an opportunity to contribute to the community in a meaningful way.

A total of 21 units of blood were collected during the camp. The collection is expected to contribute to the available blood stock at the local blood centre and support patients who may require blood in the future.

The participation of students and NSS volunteers reflected a growing sense of social responsibility among the youth. 

The organisers also stressed the importance of continued voluntary blood donation and community participation in strengthening local healthcare support.

The camp concluded with the collective effort of the volunteers, students and organisers contributing to a life-saving cause and reinforcing the message that voluntary blood donation is a simple yet meaningful way to help others.

Three Held for Mithun Theft in East Siang

  PASIGHAT, July 17:  In a successful joint operation, Mebo Police and Pasighat Police, with active support from the Mithun Owners Association, arrested three persons for allegedly stealing and illegally transporting a mithun.  The stolen animal was successfully recovered. The accused have been identified as Philip Lego (28) of Ayeng Village under Mebo Police Station, Kanggong Lego (19) of Ayeng Village, and Nandu Nath (22), a driver from Chumoni Village in Assam's North Lakhimpur district. According to police, the accused allegedly stole the mithun from the Partung area and were transporting it towards the Itanagar Capital Region (ICR).  Acting on specific intelligence, police intercepted the vehicle carrying the stolen animal at the Gumto Police Check Gate, leading to the recovery of the mithun and the arrest of all three accused. Dr. Lige Basar, Three Others Killed in Assam Crash

  Khetri/Itanagar, May 29:  A tragic road accident in Assam's Khetri area on Friday claimed the lives of four people from Arunachal Pradesh, including a senior veterinary officer, his wife, and two medical students, triggering widespread condolences across the state. The deceased have been identified as Dr. Lige Basar, Veterinary Officer of Keyi Panyor district and president of the Basar Aao Welfare Association (BAWA), his wife Kunga Doima Basar, their son Gemar Basar, and Karma S. Khirmey, Gemar's friend and fellow MBBS student. According to traffic officials, the accident occurred between 11:30 a.m. and noon when the Mahindra Bolero (AR-01Q-0042) in which they were travelling reportedly collided with a truck parked along National Highway 27 in Assam's Khetri area. All four occupants of the vehicle died at the scene.
