Pema Khandu Meets Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah on Arunachal’s Key Priorities

NEW DELHI/ITANAGAR, Aug 20: 

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Thursday called on Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and apprised him of ongoing developments and requirements in the state’s border areas.

Khandu highlighted the progress made in border connectivity and infrastructure over the past 12 years, saying the transformation under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership has brought development and new opportunities to remote frontier regions.

He thanked Rajnath Singh for his continued support and assurance of assistance towards further strengthening border infrastructure and improving the lives and livelihoods of people living in the frontier areas.

The meeting with Singh came two days after Khandu called on Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi and presented the 10-year Progress Report of Team Arunachal.

During his meeting with Shah, Khandu highlighted the state’s collective journey of development and transformation over the past decade and briefed him on key developmental initiatives being undertaken in Arunachal Pradesh.

The Chief Minister also sought Shah’s continued support and guidance for the state’s development, while expressing gratitude for his support and keen interest in the progress, peace and prosperity of Arunachal Pradesh.

Khandu’s meetings with the Union Ministers focused on strengthening the Centre-state partnership on development, border infrastructure and other key priorities of Arunachal Pradesh.

Three Held for Mithun Theft in East Siang

  PASIGHAT, July 17:  In a successful joint operation, Mebo Police and Pasighat Police, with active support from the Mithun Owners Association, arrested three persons for allegedly stealing and illegally transporting a mithun.  The stolen animal was successfully recovered. The accused have been identified as Philip Lego (28) of Ayeng Village under Mebo Police Station, Kanggong Lego (19) of Ayeng Village, and Nandu Nath (22), a driver from Chumoni Village in Assam's North Lakhimpur district. According to police, the accused allegedly stole the mithun from the Partung area and were transporting it towards the Itanagar Capital Region (ICR).  Acting on specific intelligence, police intercepted the vehicle carrying the stolen animal at the Gumto Police Check Gate, leading to the recovery of the mithun and the arrest of all three accused. Dr. Lige Basar, Three Others Killed in Assam Crash

  Khetri/Itanagar, May 29:  A tragic road accident in Assam's Khetri area on Friday claimed the lives of four people from Arunachal Pradesh, including a senior veterinary officer, his wife, and two medical students, triggering widespread condolences across the state. The deceased have been identified as Dr. Lige Basar, Veterinary Officer of Keyi Panyor district and president of the Basar Aao Welfare Association (BAWA), his wife Kunga Doima Basar, their son Gemar Basar, and Karma S. Khirmey, Gemar's friend and fellow MBBS student. According to traffic officials, the accident occurred between 11:30 a.m. and noon when the Mahindra Bolero (AR-01Q-0042) in which they were travelling reportedly collided with a truck parked along National Highway 27 in Assam's Khetri area. All four occupants of the vehicle died at the scene.
