Pakke Tiger Reserve Workers Issue 7-Day Ultimatum Over Pending Salaries

SEIJOSA, August 2: 

The Pakke Tiger Reserve Workers' Union (PTRWU) has urged the Government of Arunachal Pradesh to immediately clear the pending salaries of 210 casual and contingency staff engaged under the Pakke Tiger Reserve Project at Seijosa.

According to the union, the employees have not received their salaries for the past seven months, leaving many families in financial distress. 

The delay has reportedly affected household expenses, children's education, and other basic needs.

The affected workforce includes personnel of the Special Tiger Protection Force (STPF), Anti-Poaching Squad members, Beat Guards, Drivers, Elephant Mahouts, Cooks, Office Staff, Boatmen, Grass Cutters, and other field and support staff who continue to safeguard the reserve despite not being paid.

PTRWU President Radhe Nabam and Secretary Philip Tachang appealed to the concerned authorities to release the pending wages without further delay.

They stated that timely payment is essential for the welfare, dignity, and financial security of the employees.

The union has also issued a seven-day ultimatum to the state government, warning that it will be compelled to launch democratic protests if the pending salaries are not released within the stipulated period.

Three Held for Mithun Theft in East Siang

  PASIGHAT, July 17:  In a successful joint operation, Mebo Police and Pasighat Police, with active support from the Mithun Owners Association, arrested three persons for allegedly stealing and illegally transporting a mithun.  The stolen animal was successfully recovered. The accused have been identified as Philip Lego (28) of Ayeng Village under Mebo Police Station, Kanggong Lego (19) of Ayeng Village, and Nandu Nath (22), a driver from Chumoni Village in Assam's North Lakhimpur district. According to police, the accused allegedly stole the mithun from the Partung area and were transporting it towards the Itanagar Capital Region (ICR).  Acting on specific intelligence, police intercepted the vehicle carrying the stolen animal at the Gumto Police Check Gate, leading to the recovery of the mithun and the arrest of all three accused. Dr. Lige Basar, Three Others Killed in Assam Crash

  Khetri/Itanagar, May 29:  A tragic road accident in Assam's Khetri area on Friday claimed the lives of four people from Arunachal Pradesh, including a senior veterinary officer, his wife, and two medical students, triggering widespread condolences across the state. The deceased have been identified as Dr. Lige Basar, Veterinary Officer of Keyi Panyor district and president of the Basar Aao Welfare Association (BAWA), his wife Kunga Doima Basar, their son Gemar Basar, and Karma S. Khirmey, Gemar's friend and fellow MBBS student. According to traffic officials, the accident occurred between 11:30 a.m. and noon when the Mahindra Bolero (AR-01Q-0042) in which they were travelling reportedly collided with a truck parked along National Highway 27 in Assam's Khetri area. All four occupants of the vehicle died at the scene.
