NEET 2026: Arunachal Topper Lirik Ete Felicitated in Itanagar

ITANAGAR, August 9:

Lirik Ete, who topped Arunachal Pradesh in the NEET 2026 examination, was felicitated during the Tiranga Yatra held at IG Park, Itanagar, on August 9.

Ete secured a 99.55 percentile in NEET 2026 and achieved an impressive All India Rank (AIR) of 8,673, emerging as the highest scorer from Arunachal Pradesh in the examination.

The young achiever was honoured by Yuva Soch Naya Arunachal during the event. A special felicitation plaque was presented to Ete in recognition of his academic performance and achievement.

The plaque carried a message congratulating Ete for his hard work, dedication and brilliance, while wishing him success in his future academic journey.

The felicitation was held as part of the Har Ghar Tiranga celebrations and the Tiranga Yatra organised at IG Park. 

The event brought together citizens and youth to celebrate the national flag and the spirit of patriotism.

Ete’s achievement has added another moment of pride for Arunachal Pradesh and is expected to inspire students across the state who are preparing for competitive examinations, particularly those aspiring to pursue medical education.

The recognition also highlights the growing achievements of young students from Arunachal Pradesh in national-level competitive examinations.

Three Held for Mithun Theft in East Siang

  PASIGHAT, July 17:  In a successful joint operation, Mebo Police and Pasighat Police, with active support from the Mithun Owners Association, arrested three persons for allegedly stealing and illegally transporting a mithun.  The stolen animal was successfully recovered. The accused have been identified as Philip Lego (28) of Ayeng Village under Mebo Police Station, Kanggong Lego (19) of Ayeng Village, and Nandu Nath (22), a driver from Chumoni Village in Assam's North Lakhimpur district. According to police, the accused allegedly stole the mithun from the Partung area and were transporting it towards the Itanagar Capital Region (ICR).  Acting on specific intelligence, police intercepted the vehicle carrying the stolen animal at the Gumto Police Check Gate, leading to the recovery of the mithun and the arrest of all three accused. Dr. Lige Basar, Three Others Killed in Assam Crash

  Khetri/Itanagar, May 29:  A tragic road accident in Assam's Khetri area on Friday claimed the lives of four people from Arunachal Pradesh, including a senior veterinary officer, his wife, and two medical students, triggering widespread condolences across the state. The deceased have been identified as Dr. Lige Basar, Veterinary Officer of Keyi Panyor district and president of the Basar Aao Welfare Association (BAWA), his wife Kunga Doima Basar, their son Gemar Basar, and Karma S. Khirmey, Gemar's friend and fellow MBBS student. According to traffic officials, the accident occurred between 11:30 a.m. and noon when the Mahindra Bolero (AR-01Q-0042) in which they were travelling reportedly collided with a truck parked along National Highway 27 in Assam's Khetri area. All four occupants of the vehicle died at the scene.
