East Siang Police Launches Project Muskaan 2.0 for Child Safety
PASIGHAT, July 31:
East Siang Police has launched Project Muskaan 2.0, the next phase of its flagship child safety initiative aimed at creating a safer and more supportive environment for children through awareness, prevention, and early intervention.
Building on the success of the first phase, Project Muskaan 2.0 seeks to deepen collaboration between the police, schools, parents, teachers, and the community to ensure that every child grows up in a safe, secure, and nurturing environment.
Under the Police Ki Pathshala programme, school children will continue to receive awareness sessions on Good Touch–Bad Touch, Child Rights, the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, cyber safety, and bullying prevention.
The initiative also promotes child-friendly reporting through Child Safety Complaint Boxes, educational visits to Ane's Home, and specialised training for police personnel to strengthen child protection efforts.
According to East Siang Police, the first phase of Project Muskaan reached 16,897 students across 104 schools, receiving an encouraging response from educational institutions and the community.
With the launch of Project Muskaan 2.0, the programme has been expanded to include greater community participation.
Parents will be engaged through Parent-Teacher Meetings focusing on their legal responsibilities in child protection, while teachers will receive dedicated orientation and capacity-building sessions to better identify and respond to child safety concerns.
The upgraded initiative will also ensure regular monitoring of Child Safety Complaint Boxes in schools, introduce simple learning outcome surveys and structured feedback mechanisms.
East Siang Police stated that child safety is a shared responsibility and reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with children, parents, teachers, schools, and the wider community to build a culture where every child feels safe, respected, and protected.
