DNGC Bids Farewell to Principal Dr. M. Q. Khan on Superannuation

ITANAGAR, July 31: 

Dera Natung Government College (DNGC), Itanagar, accorded a heartfelt farewell to its Principal, Dr. M. Q. Khan, on the occasion of his superannuation, marking the end of a distinguished academic career spanning nearly four decades.

The farewell programme was attended by faculty members, students, alumni, non-teaching staff, and well-wishers, who came together to honour his years of dedicated service and leadership.

Dr. Khan joined DNGC as a lecturer on October 16, 1989, and steadily rose through the ranks to become the Principal of the premier institution. 

Over the years, he earned recognition for his commitment to academic excellence, student mentorship, and institutional development.

Under his leadership, the college witnessed several key developments, including infrastructure upgrades and the expansion of academic initiatives. His tenure also focused on creating better opportunities for students beyond the classroom.

Just days before retiring, Dr. Khan signed a five-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with NESO Fugensus Pvt. Ltd. (NEFPL). 

The partnership aims to strengthen industry-academia collaboration, promote entrepreneurship, and improve employment prospects for undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Throughout his distinguished 37-year academic career, former DNGC Principal Dr. MQ Khan has left a profound literary legacy by authoring an impressive 16 books, alongside numerous research papers, articles, and poems. 

Beyond his administrative role, Dr. Khan is also known for his contribution to promoting education through philanthropy. 

In 2023, he launched a book donation drive and distributed more than 6,000 copies of books authored by him, including English Grammar Made Easy.

The books were donated to student organisations, the Arunachal Press Club library, and police station libraries across the state to encourage reading habits and make learning resources more accessible, especially for young readers.

During the farewell ceremony, speakers praised Dr. Khan's visionary leadership and his lasting contribution to DNGC and higher education in Arunachal Pradesh. 

They wished him good health and a fulfilling retired life.

With his retirement, DNGC closes an important chapter in its history while celebrating the legacy of an educator whose service has positively influenced the institution and countless students over the years.

Three Held for Mithun Theft in East Siang

  PASIGHAT, July 17:  In a successful joint operation, Mebo Police and Pasighat Police, with active support from the Mithun Owners Association, arrested three persons for allegedly stealing and illegally transporting a mithun.  The stolen animal was successfully recovered. The accused have been identified as Philip Lego (28) of Ayeng Village under Mebo Police Station, Kanggong Lego (19) of Ayeng Village, and Nandu Nath (22), a driver from Chumoni Village in Assam's North Lakhimpur district. According to police, the accused allegedly stole the mithun from the Partung area and were transporting it towards the Itanagar Capital Region (ICR).  Acting on specific intelligence, police intercepted the vehicle carrying the stolen animal at the Gumto Police Check Gate, leading to the recovery of the mithun and the arrest of all three accused. Dr. Lige Basar, Three Others Killed in Assam Crash

  Khetri/Itanagar, May 29:  A tragic road accident in Assam's Khetri area on Friday claimed the lives of four people from Arunachal Pradesh, including a senior veterinary officer, his wife, and two medical students, triggering widespread condolences across the state. The deceased have been identified as Dr. Lige Basar, Veterinary Officer of Keyi Panyor district and president of the Basar Aao Welfare Association (BAWA), his wife Kunga Doima Basar, their son Gemar Basar, and Karma S. Khirmey, Gemar's friend and fellow MBBS student. According to traffic officials, the accident occurred between 11:30 a.m. and noon when the Mahindra Bolero (AR-01Q-0042) in which they were travelling reportedly collided with a truck parked along National Highway 27 in Assam's Khetri area. All four occupants of the vehicle died at the scene.
