Changlang Police Seize 420g Heroin, ₹21 Lakh Cash

Changlang District Police have seized 420.5 grams of suspected heroin and ₹21 lakh in cash during an intelligence-based operation, in a major crackdown on narcotic drugs in the district.
According to Changlang District Police, the seizure was made during an intelligence-based operation.
The operation was carried out by a team led by Inspector Changkam Yanchang, Officer-in-Charge of Nampong Police Station, along with police station staff and STF personnel.
The team worked under the close supervision of Changlang SP Shri Kirli Padu, IPS, and intercepted a suspected vehicle based on intelligence inputs.
The driver, identified as Mittang Mungrey of Namgoi Village, was detained during the operation. Police subsequently searched the vehicle and recovered 33 packets containing suspected heroin weighing 420.5 grams.
The police also seized ₹21 lakh in cash, suspected to be proceeds from the sale of narcotic drugs. The seizure was carried out after completing the required legal formalities.
A case has been registered under the relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Further investigation is underway to establish the source of the drugs and identify other persons who may be involved in the network.
