Arunachal Gets First NCC Training Academy in Pasighat

PASIGHAT, August 10: 

Chief Minister Pema Khandu today inaugurated the NCC Academy Complex at Pasighat, marking the opening of the first NCC Training Academy in Arunachal Pradesh and the second such academy in the Northeast after Tezpur, Assam.

Minister Ojing Tasing, State BJP President Kaling Moyong, BJP Spokesperson Mutchu Mithi and other dignitaries were present during the inauguration.

The new academy is aimed at providing young people with a dedicated space to learn, train and develop leadership, discipline and a sense of responsibility.

The complex has been equipped with cadet barracks, JCO and NCO quarters, a guest house, training and administrative facilities, and other essential infrastructure required for NCC activities.

Speaking at the event, CM Pema Khandu highlighted the importance of the academy in expanding quality NCC training opportunities for the youth of the state.

He said the facility would be particularly valuable for young people from remote, eastern and frontier areas of Arunachal Pradesh, allowing them to access structured training closer to their home regions.

The academy is expected to play an important role in nurturing disciplined and confident youth while encouraging leadership, teamwork and a spirit of service.

The establishment of the Pasighat academy also strengthens Arunachal Pradesh’s NCC infrastructure and reinforces the organisation’s core motto of “Unity and Discipline.”

Three Held for Mithun Theft in East Siang

  PASIGHAT, July 17:  In a successful joint operation, Mebo Police and Pasighat Police, with active support from the Mithun Owners Association, arrested three persons for allegedly stealing and illegally transporting a mithun.  The stolen animal was successfully recovered. The accused have been identified as Philip Lego (28) of Ayeng Village under Mebo Police Station, Kanggong Lego (19) of Ayeng Village, and Nandu Nath (22), a driver from Chumoni Village in Assam's North Lakhimpur district. According to police, the accused allegedly stole the mithun from the Partung area and were transporting it towards the Itanagar Capital Region (ICR).  Acting on specific intelligence, police intercepted the vehicle carrying the stolen animal at the Gumto Police Check Gate, leading to the recovery of the mithun and the arrest of all three accused. Dr. Lige Basar, Three Others Killed in Assam Crash

  Khetri/Itanagar, May 29:  A tragic road accident in Assam's Khetri area on Friday claimed the lives of four people from Arunachal Pradesh, including a senior veterinary officer, his wife, and two medical students, triggering widespread condolences across the state. The deceased have been identified as Dr. Lige Basar, Veterinary Officer of Keyi Panyor district and president of the Basar Aao Welfare Association (BAWA), his wife Kunga Doima Basar, their son Gemar Basar, and Karma S. Khirmey, Gemar's friend and fellow MBBS student. According to traffic officials, the accident occurred between 11:30 a.m. and noon when the Mahindra Bolero (AR-01Q-0042) in which they were travelling reportedly collided with a truck parked along National Highway 27 in Assam's Khetri area. All four occupants of the vehicle died at the scene.
