Arunachal Cabinet Makes PRC, APST and Tribal Language Mandatory for Govt Jobs
ITANAGAR, August 13:
The Arunachal Pradesh Cabinet has approved uniform eligibility criteria for direct recruitment to all Group A, B and C government posts in the state.
Under the new criteria, candidates applying for government jobs will be required to fulfil three mandatory conditions: Permanent Residence, APST/Indigenous Status and Indigenous Tribal Language Proficiency.
The decision makes Permanent Residence Certificate (PRC) a mandatory eligibility requirement for direct recruitment to government posts in Arunachal Pradesh.
Applicants will also be required to possess APST or indigenous status to be eligible for the recruitment process.
In addition, candidates must demonstrate proficiency in an indigenous tribal language of Arunachal Pradesh, adding language knowledge as a mandatory recruitment criterion.
The Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) and the Arunachal Pradesh Staff Selection Board (APSSB) have been directed to incorporate the new eligibility criteria into all future recruitment processes.
The Cabinet decision comes shortly after the High Power Committee on the 80:20 job reservation issue concluded its final meeting, where AAPSU had proposed the same three conditions for government recruitment.
AAPSU had subsequently urged the state government to convene a Cabinet meeting before August 15 and announce its decision on the issue on Independence Day.
The students’ body had warned that failure to announce the decision by August 15 would lead to a 12-hour statewide bandh on August 17.
With the Cabinet now approving the key recruitment eligibility conditions, the government’s decision marks a major development in the ongoing debate over job opportunities and recruitment eligibility in Arunachal Pradesh.
