APJEWA Donates Rs 30,000 for Assam Flood Relief

ITANAGAR, August 8: 

The Arunachal Pradesh Junior Engineers’ Welfare Association (APJEWA) has extended financial assistance to flood-affected people in Assam by contributing Rs 30,000 towards ongoing relief efforts.

The contribution was formally handed over to Miss Arunachal, who is spearheading relief and rehabilitation initiatives for people affected by the floods in the neighbouring state.

The recent floods in Assam have caused extensive damage across several areas, affecting communities and disrupting normal life. Thousands of people have been displaced, creating an urgent need for food, essential supplies and other forms of humanitarian assistance.

APJEWA’s contribution is intended to support relief measures for families and communities facing difficulties due to the ongoing flood situation. 

The association’s gesture also reflects solidarity between the neighbouring states of Arunachal Pradesh and Assam during a time of crisis.

Miss Arunachal acknowledged the contribution and appreciated APJEWA for extending support to the flood-affected population. 

She also appealed to other organisations, institutions and individuals to come forward and contribute to the relief efforts.

The coordinated relief initiatives are focused on providing immediate assistance to affected people while supporting broader rehabilitation efforts in flood-hit areas.

APJEWA’s contribution adds to the growing support from individuals and organisations responding to the flood situation in Assam.

Three Held for Mithun Theft in East Siang

  PASIGHAT, July 17:  In a successful joint operation, Mebo Police and Pasighat Police, with active support from the Mithun Owners Association, arrested three persons for allegedly stealing and illegally transporting a mithun.  The stolen animal was successfully recovered. The accused have been identified as Philip Lego (28) of Ayeng Village under Mebo Police Station, Kanggong Lego (19) of Ayeng Village, and Nandu Nath (22), a driver from Chumoni Village in Assam's North Lakhimpur district. According to police, the accused allegedly stole the mithun from the Partung area and were transporting it towards the Itanagar Capital Region (ICR).  Acting on specific intelligence, police intercepted the vehicle carrying the stolen animal at the Gumto Police Check Gate, leading to the recovery of the mithun and the arrest of all three accused. Dr. Lige Basar, Three Others Killed in Assam Crash

  Khetri/Itanagar, May 29:  A tragic road accident in Assam's Khetri area on Friday claimed the lives of four people from Arunachal Pradesh, including a senior veterinary officer, his wife, and two medical students, triggering widespread condolences across the state. The deceased have been identified as Dr. Lige Basar, Veterinary Officer of Keyi Panyor district and president of the Basar Aao Welfare Association (BAWA), his wife Kunga Doima Basar, their son Gemar Basar, and Karma S. Khirmey, Gemar's friend and fellow MBBS student. According to traffic officials, the accident occurred between 11:30 a.m. and noon when the Mahindra Bolero (AR-01Q-0042) in which they were travelling reportedly collided with a truck parked along National Highway 27 in Assam's Khetri area. All four occupants of the vehicle died at the scene.
