AAPSU Assures Support to Kangku Villagers

 

ITANAGAR, August 11: 

AAPSU President Meje Taku on Tuesday met villagers affected by the recent incident at Hime village under Kangku Circle in Lower Siang district and assured them of the students’ body’s support.

The villagers were led by Todak Ngomle and Advocate Dugel Nada, both from Hime village. They apprised the AAPSU president of the situation and shared their concerns, grievances and the difficulties faced by the affected people.

The delegation was accompanied by Galo Students’ Union (GSU) President Bozir Bole and All Leparada District Students’ Union President Lukse Gadi.

The meeting came a day after tension was reported along the Assam–Arunachal Pradesh boundary in the Hime area. 

Reports said a confrontation followed a dispute over land, with firing reported during the incident and several people injured.

The circumstances surrounding the firing have been reported differently by various sources, while authorities from both states moved to contain the situation and prevent further escalation.

During the meeting, Taku and his team assured the villagers that their concerns, particularly those related to their safety and legitimate interests, would be taken up with due seriousness.

The AAPSU leadership also assured its cooperation and support to the affected people of Kangku Circle, while emphasising the need for the concerns of the villagers to be heard through the appropriate channels.

The meeting reflected AAPSU’s engagement with the affected community following the incident and its efforts to raise issues concerning the welfare and safety of people in the region.
