25 Kyidphel Farmers Receive Organic Farming Inputs

KYIDPHEL, August 20: 

In a step towards promoting sustainable agriculture and organic farming, horticultural inputs for hybrid vegetable cultivation were distributed to farmers at Kyidphel Circle on Thursday under the Vibrant Villages Programme (VVP).

The initiative is being implemented under the Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH) to encourage improved vegetable cultivation and strengthen agricultural livelihoods in the border areas.

A total of 25 farmers from Kyidphel Block benefited from the programme. The beneficiaries received summer and winter vegetable seed kits, organic manure, organic plant protection chemicals, power knapsack sprayers, and various agricultural tools and implements.

District Horticulture Officer (DHO), Tawang, Koncho Gyatso, highlighted the long-term benefits of organic farming while addressing the farmers. He encouraged them to adopt sustainable cultivation practices that can help maintain soil fertility, reduce dependence on chemical inputs and ensure safe and healthy food production.

Assistant Commissioner, Kyidphel, Sange Norbu, urged the beneficiaries to make optimum and responsible use of the inputs provided under the scheme. 

He also stressed the importance of adopting improved horticultural practices to increase productivity and strengthen the livelihoods of farming communities.

ZPM Kyidphel, Tenzin Monpa, called on farmers to gradually reduce the use of chemical fertilizers and shift towards organic and environmentally sustainable farming practices.

He said organic cultivation would not only help protect the health of farmers and consumers but also contribute to preserving soil fertility and the natural environment for future generations.

The distribution programme reflects the continued efforts of the Horticulture Department to provide quality inputs to farmers, promote sustainable horticulture and boost local vegetable production in the border areas under the Vibrant Villages Programme.

The initiative aims to contribute towards a healthier, greener and more self-reliant Kyidphel by encouraging farming practices that benefit both local communities and the environment.

Three Held for Mithun Theft in East Siang

  PASIGHAT, July 17:  In a successful joint operation, Mebo Police and Pasighat Police, with active support from the Mithun Owners Association, arrested three persons for allegedly stealing and illegally transporting a mithun.  The stolen animal was successfully recovered. The accused have been identified as Philip Lego (28) of Ayeng Village under Mebo Police Station, Kanggong Lego (19) of Ayeng Village, and Nandu Nath (22), a driver from Chumoni Village in Assam's North Lakhimpur district. According to police, the accused allegedly stole the mithun from the Partung area and were transporting it towards the Itanagar Capital Region (ICR).  Acting on specific intelligence, police intercepted the vehicle carrying the stolen animal at the Gumto Police Check Gate, leading to the recovery of the mithun and the arrest of all three accused. Dr. Lige Basar, Three Others Killed in Assam Crash

  Khetri/Itanagar, May 29:  A tragic road accident in Assam's Khetri area on Friday claimed the lives of four people from Arunachal Pradesh, including a senior veterinary officer, his wife, and two medical students, triggering widespread condolences across the state. The deceased have been identified as Dr. Lige Basar, Veterinary Officer of Keyi Panyor district and president of the Basar Aao Welfare Association (BAWA), his wife Kunga Doima Basar, their son Gemar Basar, and Karma S. Khirmey, Gemar's friend and fellow MBBS student. According to traffic officials, the accident occurred between 11:30 a.m. and noon when the Mahindra Bolero (AR-01Q-0042) in which they were travelling reportedly collided with a truck parked along National Highway 27 in Assam's Khetri area. All four occupants of the vehicle died at the scene.
