MLA Techi Kaso Extends Relief to Fire Victims

ITANAGAR, July 2: 

MLA Techi Kaso on Thursday visited Puroik Colony in the Papu Nallah area of Itanagar to inspect the site of the devastating fire that ravaged the locality shortly after midnight, leaving several families homeless and causing extensive damage to property.

Accompanied by officials of the Itanagar Capital Region (ICR) District Administration and the Corporator of Ward No. 13, the MLA assessed the extent of the damage and interacted with the affected families to understand their immediate needs.

Following the inspection, immediate relief assistance was provided to the affected households and tenants. Techi Kaso assured the victims that every possible support would be extended and directed the district administration to undertake a detailed assessment of the losses suffered by each affected family.

The administration has been instructed to carry out a thorough verification to determine the eligibility of the affected households for compensation and other relief measures in accordance with government norms. The assessment is expected to facilitate the timely disbursement of financial assistance and rehabilitation support.

The fire, which was reported at around 12:20 am, completely gutted eight houses belonging to three property owners and destroyed several rental units, rendering multiple families homeless. According to the Fire and Emergency Services Department, three fire tenders and 11 firefighters battled the blaze for more than three hours before bringing it under control.

Preliminary reports suggest the fire may have originated from an electrical short circuit in a rented house, although the exact cause is yet to be officially confirmed. 

Besides reducing houses to ashes, the blaze destroyed household belongings, educational certificates, grocery stocks, furniture, electronic appliances, LPG cylinders, important documents, traditional ornaments and other valuables. 

Two nearby RCC buildings also sustained partial damage due to the intense heat.

No casualties or injuries were reported in the incident. The district administration is continuing its assessment of the losses while the Fire and Emergency Services Department investigates the cause of the fire.

Three Held for Mithun Theft in East Siang

  PASIGHAT, July 17:  In a successful joint operation, Mebo Police and Pasighat Police, with active support from the Mithun Owners Association, arrested three persons for allegedly stealing and illegally transporting a mithun.  The stolen animal was successfully recovered. The accused have been identified as Philip Lego (28) of Ayeng Village under Mebo Police Station, Kanggong Lego (19) of Ayeng Village, and Nandu Nath (22), a driver from Chumoni Village in Assam's North Lakhimpur district. According to police, the accused allegedly stole the mithun from the Partung area and were transporting it towards the Itanagar Capital Region (ICR).  Acting on specific intelligence, police intercepted the vehicle carrying the stolen animal at the Gumto Police Check Gate, leading to the recovery of the mithun and the arrest of all three accused. Dr. Lige Basar, Three Others Killed in Assam Crash

  Khetri/Itanagar, May 29:  A tragic road accident in Assam's Khetri area on Friday claimed the lives of four people from Arunachal Pradesh, including a senior veterinary officer, his wife, and two medical students, triggering widespread condolences across the state. The deceased have been identified as Dr. Lige Basar, Veterinary Officer of Keyi Panyor district and president of the Basar Aao Welfare Association (BAWA), his wife Kunga Doima Basar, their son Gemar Basar, and Karma S. Khirmey, Gemar's friend and fellow MBBS student. According to traffic officials, the accident occurred between 11:30 a.m. and noon when the Mahindra Bolero (AR-01Q-0042) in which they were travelling reportedly collided with a truck parked along National Highway 27 in Assam's Khetri area.
