ITANAGAR, July 3:

The Arunachal Pradesh Rifle Association (APRA) will organise the 7th State Shooting Championship 2026 on July 11 and 12 at the HIM International School Shooting Range in Julang, Itanagar.

The two-day championship will bring together registered shooters from district rifle associations across Arunachal Pradesh, providing a competitive platform to showcase their marksmanship and qualify for higher-level competitions.

According to a press release issued by APRA, registrations for the championship opened on July 1 and will continue until July 9. Eligible shooters affiliated with registered district units have been invited to participate in the event.

The championship will feature competitions in the 10-metre Air Rifle and 10-metre Air Pistol disciplines for both men and women. Events will be conducted across youth, junior and senior categories, allowing shooters from different age groups to compete under standard competitive formats.

To ensure the smooth conduct of the championship, APRA has constituted an organising committee headed by APRA President Chukhu Apa.

The committee includes Secretary General Jackey Teli, Treasurer Taw Teri, Technical Manager Mihin Kuru, and coaches Babul Hazarika and Rakesh Sharma, along with other association members who will oversee technical, administrative and event management responsibilities.

APRA has also released the list of registered participants representing various institutions and districts, including HIM International School, Rajiv Gandhi University, Papum Pare, Lepa Rada, and Kei Panyor. More participants from different district units are expected to compete during the championship.

The annual state championship serves as an important talent identification event for the association, offering promising shooters an opportunity to demonstrate their skills and earn selection for future national-level shooting competitions.

APRA expressed confidence that the championship will further strengthen the sport of shooting in Arunachal Pradesh by encouraging greater participation and nurturing emerging talent across the state.
