AFTF Calls Mega Rally to Scrap 80:20 Recruitment Ratio

ITANAGAR, July 5: 

The Arunachal Frontier Tribal Front (AFTF) has announced a mega public rally on July 11 in Itanagar, demanding the immediate scrapping of the existing 80:20 recruitment ratio in appointments conducted by the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) and the Arunachal Pradesh Staff Selection Board (APSSB).

The organisation is also demanding that Scheduled Tribe (ST) status and a valid Permanent Residential Certificate (PRC) of Arunachal Pradesh be made mandatory eligibility conditions for all examinations and recruitments conducted by the APPSC and APSSB.

According to AFTF, the rally will be held from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM under the campaign slogan "Let's Do It Arunachal" and will proceed from Akash Deep to IG Park in Itanagar, where a public gathering will be held.

AFTF Chairman Tadak Nalo has appealed to the people of Arunachal Pradesh, particularly students, unemployed youths, civil society organisations, community groups, and indigenous tribal communities, to participate in large numbers. 

The organisation has described the rally as a peaceful democratic movement aimed at protecting the constitutional rights, identity, and employment opportunities of the indigenous people of the State.

According to the organisers, one of the primary objectives of the rally is to urge the State Government to abolish the recruitment policy, which they claim has remained in force for more than three decades and has adversely affected the employment prospects of indigenous tribal aspirants. 

AFTF maintains that the time has come to replace the existing system with recruitment norms that prioritise the interests of Arunachal Pradesh's indigenous communities.

The rally is being organised under the leadership of AFTF Chairman Tadak Nalo and General Secretary Tarba Japan, with the organisation calling upon the public to join what it describes as a historic movement for the protection of indigenous rights, identity, and future employment opportunities.

Three Held for Mithun Theft in East Siang

  PASIGHAT, July 17:  In a successful joint operation, Mebo Police and Pasighat Police, with active support from the Mithun Owners Association, arrested three persons for allegedly stealing and illegally transporting a mithun.  The stolen animal was successfully recovered. The accused have been identified as Philip Lego (28) of Ayeng Village under Mebo Police Station, Kanggong Lego (19) of Ayeng Village, and Nandu Nath (22), a driver from Chumoni Village in Assam's North Lakhimpur district. According to police, the accused allegedly stole the mithun from the Partung area and were transporting it towards the Itanagar Capital Region (ICR).  Acting on specific intelligence, police intercepted the vehicle carrying the stolen animal at the Gumto Police Check Gate, leading to the recovery of the mithun and the arrest of all three accused. Dr. Lige Basar, Three Others Killed in Assam Crash

  Khetri/Itanagar, May 29:  A tragic road accident in Assam's Khetri area on Friday claimed the lives of four people from Arunachal Pradesh, including a senior veterinary officer, his wife, and two medical students, triggering widespread condolences across the state. The deceased have been identified as Dr. Lige Basar, Veterinary Officer of Keyi Panyor district and president of the Basar Aao Welfare Association (BAWA), his wife Kunga Doima Basar, their son Gemar Basar, and Karma S. Khirmey, Gemar's friend and fellow MBBS student. According to traffic officials, the accident occurred between 11:30 a.m. and noon when the Mahindra Bolero (AR-01Q-0042) in which they were travelling reportedly collided with a truck parked along National Highway 27 in Assam's Khetri area. All four occupants of the vehicle died at the scene.
