Three NSCN Cadres Surrender, Return to Mainstream in Changlang

Changlang, June 22:

In a significant development towards peace, stability, and rehabilitation in the region, three cadres belonging to the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN) have voluntarily surrendered and returned to mainstream society in Changlang district.

According to official sources, two cadres of NSCN-Reformation (NSCN-R) and one cadre of NSCN-Isak-Muivah (NSCN-IM) recently surrendered before the Changlang District Police. The surrender was facilitated through continuous counselling efforts by the police and the active support and encouragement of their family members.

The surrendered individuals chose to renounce the path of violence and insurgency in order to lead a peaceful and productive life within society. Their decision reflects a growing willingness among misguided youths to embrace peace, reconciliation, and lawful livelihoods.

Changlang District Police stated that the voluntary surrender marks an important step in the ongoing efforts to promote peace and encourage the rehabilitation and reintegration of former insurgents into the social mainstream. 

The police reaffirmed their commitment to supporting surrendered cadres through the rehabilitation process and helping them build a better future.

The district police also appealed to other local youths who may have joined underground groups to shun violence, return to their families, and participate in the development and progress of society through peaceful means.

Officials described the surrender as a positive sign for the district and reiterated that sustained cooperation among families, communities, and law enforcement agencies is essential for maintaining peace and fostering long-term stability in the region.

Three Held for Mithun Theft in East Siang

  PASIGHAT, July 17:  In a successful joint operation, Mebo Police and Pasighat Police, with active support from the Mithun Owners Association, arrested three persons for allegedly stealing and illegally transporting a mithun.  The stolen animal was successfully recovered. The accused have been identified as Philip Lego (28) of Ayeng Village under Mebo Police Station, Kanggong Lego (19) of Ayeng Village, and Nandu Nath (22), a driver from Chumoni Village in Assam's North Lakhimpur district. According to police, the accused allegedly stole the mithun from the Partung area and were transporting it towards the Itanagar Capital Region (ICR).  Acting on specific intelligence, police intercepted the vehicle carrying the stolen animal at the Gumto Police Check Gate, leading to the recovery of the mithun and the arrest of all three accused. Dr. Lige Basar, Three Others Killed in Assam Crash

  Khetri/Itanagar, May 29:  A tragic road accident in Assam's Khetri area on Friday claimed the lives of four people from Arunachal Pradesh, including a senior veterinary officer, his wife, and two medical students, triggering widespread condolences across the state. The deceased have been identified as Dr. Lige Basar, Veterinary Officer of Keyi Panyor district and president of the Basar Aao Welfare Association (BAWA), his wife Kunga Doima Basar, their son Gemar Basar, and Karma S. Khirmey, Gemar's friend and fellow MBBS student. According to traffic officials, the accident occurred between 11:30 a.m. and noon when the Mahindra Bolero (AR-01Q-0042) in which they were travelling reportedly collided with a truck parked along National Highway 27 in Assam's Khetri area. All four occupants of the vehicle died at the scene.
