AFTF Raises ILP Concerns Over Non-APST Exam Candidates

The Arunachal Frontier Tribal Front (AFTF) has raised serious concerns over the alleged entry of non-APST candidates into Arunachal Pradesh without valid Inner Line Permits (ILPs) to appear in state recruitment examinations.

AFTF Chairman Tadak Nalo claimed that during the APSSB recruitment examination conducted on June 14, a significant number of candidates from outside the state entered Arunachal Pradesh using only their examination admit cards. According to Nalo, nearly 60 percent of the candidates who appeared in the examination were outsiders, prompting the organization to seek clarification from the state government regarding the legality of such entries.

To address the issue, AFTF representatives recently met the Commissioner (Home) and sought clarification on whether admit cards issued to non-APST candidates for Arunachal Pradesh state examinations can be treated as valid documents for entry into the state.

Nalo stated that the Commissioner (Home) clarified that an examination admit card does not automatically qualify as an Inner Line Permit. He said that any non-APST individual entering Arunachal Pradesh for examinations, employment, tourism, or any other purpose must obtain a valid ILP in accordance with existing regulations.

Following the clarification, Nalo questioned whether authorities would initiate any action against candidates who allegedly entered the state and appeared for examinations without possessing valid ILPs. He argued that if such candidates failed to secure the mandatory permits before entering Arunachal Pradesh, their presence in the state would be in violation of ILP regulations.

The AFTF has urged the government to examine the matter thoroughly and ensure strict enforcement of the ILP system during future recruitment examinations. The organization maintains that proper verification mechanisms should be put in place to prevent unauthorized entry into the state under the guise of appearing for competitive examinations.

The issue comes amid AFTF's broader campaign seeking the scrapping of the 80:20 ratio criterion in APPSC and APSSB examinations, which the organization argues is necessary to safeguard employment opportunities for indigenous Arunachal Pradesh Scheduled Tribe (APST) candidates.

Three Held for Mithun Theft in East Siang

  PASIGHAT, July 17:  In a successful joint operation, Mebo Police and Pasighat Police, with active support from the Mithun Owners Association, arrested three persons for allegedly stealing and illegally transporting a mithun.  The stolen animal was successfully recovered. The accused have been identified as Philip Lego (28) of Ayeng Village under Mebo Police Station, Kanggong Lego (19) of Ayeng Village, and Nandu Nath (22), a driver from Chumoni Village in Assam's North Lakhimpur district. According to police, the accused allegedly stole the mithun from the Partung area and were transporting it towards the Itanagar Capital Region (ICR).  Acting on specific intelligence, police intercepted the vehicle carrying the stolen animal at the Gumto Police Check Gate, leading to the recovery of the mithun and the arrest of all three accused. Dr. Lige Basar, Three Others Killed in Assam Crash

  Khetri/Itanagar, May 29:  A tragic road accident in Assam's Khetri area on Friday claimed the lives of four people from Arunachal Pradesh, including a senior veterinary officer, his wife, and two medical students, triggering widespread condolences across the state. The deceased have been identified as Dr. Lige Basar, Veterinary Officer of Keyi Panyor district and president of the Basar Aao Welfare Association (BAWA), his wife Kunga Doima Basar, their son Gemar Basar, and Karma S. Khirmey, Gemar's friend and fellow MBBS student. According to traffic officials, the accident occurred between 11:30 a.m. and noon when the Mahindra Bolero (AR-01Q-0042) in which they were travelling reportedly collided with a truck parked along National Highway 27 in Assam's Khetri area. All four occupants of the vehicle died at the scene.
