Capital Police Intensify Drive Against ILP Violators

Itanagar, June 9:

The Itanagar Capital Police, under the supervision of Superintendent of Police (SP) Jummar Basar, has intensified its enforcement drive against violators of the Inner Line Permit (ILP) regulations across the Capital Region as part of its ongoing efforts to ensure strict compliance with existing laws.

According to police authorities, the operation forms part of a routine enforcement exercise conducted under the provisions of the Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation (BEFR), 1873, which governs the entry and stay of non-Arunachal Pradesh residents in the state.

During regular verification and checking drives carried out across various locations within the Capital Complex, police teams have identified a significant number of individuals found residing or travelling without valid ILP documents. Authorities stated that appropriate legal action is taken against violators in accordance with the law, including externment from the state and other necessary measures wherever required.

The Capital Police clarified that such enforcement activities are conducted regularly throughout the year as part of standard policing procedures aimed at safeguarding the interests of indigenous communities and ensuring adherence to the state's permit regulations. However, many of these operations do not always receive media attention despite being carried out consistently.

Police officials further informed that ILP verification drives will continue across the Capital Region and urged all residents, business establishments, employers, landlords, and visitors to cooperate with law enforcement agencies during inspections.

The Capital Police also appealed to citizens to ensure that all non-residents residing, working, or conducting business within the state possess valid Inner Line Permits and comply with the provisions of the BEFR, 1873.

Residents of the Capital Complex have been advised to remain vigilant and report any suspected cases of ILP violations to the nearest police station. Authorities reiterated their commitment to maintaining law and order while ensuring strict implementation of the Inner Line Permit system in the state.

Three Held for Mithun Theft in East Siang

  PASIGHAT, July 17:  In a successful joint operation, Mebo Police and Pasighat Police, with active support from the Mithun Owners Association, arrested three persons for allegedly stealing and illegally transporting a mithun.  The stolen animal was successfully recovered. The accused have been identified as Philip Lego (28) of Ayeng Village under Mebo Police Station, Kanggong Lego (19) of Ayeng Village, and Nandu Nath (22), a driver from Chumoni Village in Assam's North Lakhimpur district. According to police, the accused allegedly stole the mithun from the Partung area and were transporting it towards the Itanagar Capital Region (ICR).  Acting on specific intelligence, police intercepted the vehicle carrying the stolen animal at the Gumto Police Check Gate, leading to the recovery of the mithun and the arrest of all three accused. Dr. Lige Basar, Three Others Killed in Assam Crash

  Khetri/Itanagar, May 29:  A tragic road accident in Assam's Khetri area on Friday claimed the lives of four people from Arunachal Pradesh, including a senior veterinary officer, his wife, and two medical students, triggering widespread condolences across the state. The deceased have been identified as Dr. Lige Basar, Veterinary Officer of Keyi Panyor district and president of the Basar Aao Welfare Association (BAWA), his wife Kunga Doima Basar, their son Gemar Basar, and Karma S. Khirmey, Gemar's friend and fellow MBBS student. According to traffic officials, the accident occurred between 11:30 a.m. and noon when the Mahindra Bolero (AR-01Q-0042) in which they were travelling reportedly collided with a truck parked along National Highway 27 in Assam's Khetri area.
